November brings Nicole and mid-term elections. Nicole has developed with subtropical characteristics in the Atlantic Ocean, taking aim for storm weary Florida.
A subtropical system has some central convection fairly near the center surrounding a warming core existing in the mid-levels of the troposphere. Nicole may further develop into a tropical storm.

Bastardi saying it has potential to be cat 2 storm. That would be a significant storm. Following same tract as late season storm in 85 Kate. So be alert if in Florida especially on east coast.
We shored up one of the gutter downspouts and repaired a few deck rails last week.

Didn’t realize there is another rocket on the launch pad. They need to get busy. That’s a slow trip.
Unlike tropical storms, subtropical storms are generally cold-core in the upper troposphere, and often associated with an upper-level low or trough. The radius of max winds occurs farther from the center, and they have a less symmetric wind field and convection.
If it hits hurricane status, it would by definition become tropical. Tropical systems have a warm core.

I was docked at the City Marina for 12 years. They learned a valuable lesson from Frances and Jeanne. Get boats out of the marina. I was a member of the River Forest Yachting Center, for hurricane haul-out. The place is located past the first lock on the St. Lucie River. The insurance company would give me half back for the haul-out.
I’m so relieved that I’ve since sold both of my vessels. Now, I only have the house to worry about. Wish your friend the best. You are correct about heading up river, multiple anchors and tieing off to some trees.

Parts of my county are still struggling with the flooding from Ian. I hate to see much more rain here right now.
I seriously doubt that they will leave the SLS on the pad with a potential 50+ mph storm approaching them.

Chocolate is a basic hurricane staple, like potato chips and a can of tuna. Caution: hot weather and power outages make chocolate messy. Therefore, you either buy M&Ms, or consume the chocolate before/during the storm, or have a cooler full of ice to keep the chocolate intact after the electricity goes out. If beer is one of your hurricane staples, you will have the beer and chocolate on ice together.
