November brings Nicole and mid-term elections. Nicole has developed with subtropical characteristics in the Atlantic Ocean, taking aim for storm weary Florida.
A subtropical system has some central convection fairly near the center surrounding a warming core existing in the mid-levels of the troposphere. Nicole may further develop into a tropical storm.

Now I know who to pray for during the night...those people in the high rises.
I hope the evacuation goes well, and that they all get out in plenty of time.
They all had to be evacuated before the bridge closed at 7:00PM.
TORNADOES: A few tornadoes will be possible overnight into early
Thursday morning across east-central to northeast Florida. The
tornado threat will increase and gradually expand north through the
day into southeast Georgia and southern South Carolina. Some
tornado risk should continue Thursday night into early Friday across
eastern South Carolina and southeast North Carolina. Tornadoes
will again be possible during the day Friday centered on central to
eastern North Carolina into southeast Virginia.
Thanks for the link.
Wow, that looks frightening...
Yikes! Praying everyone in Nicole's path stays safe.
Eyewall meets shoreline. Big eye, about 50 miles across.
Hi, thanks for the hurricane party :-)
Praying you all are ok wherever you are cuz this is wide ranging allover us. I slept well, now made a double pot of coffee, rechecked things, updated on news/ weather.
It doesn’t matter how far away one is from “greatest impact” areaS to have an “oh here it comes” foreboding. Here we are again with gusty winds, yet more rain, nasty looking skies & water. Those serious Ian preps helped.
[[ Bottom line: it always helps to have preps in place, if not for a hurricane it’s a “winter storm” - there’s always something! Start wherever you can, 3 days, whatever, & build from there in breadth & depth as knowledge & ability allow. Pray always, do what you can, others are praying with you & for you <3 ]]
The eye is currently over my location in Polk county. Just got really quiet. Great timing, I got to let my dog outside.
Good morning. All good here. Hoping our FL Atlantic Coast FReepers check in soon.
big shout out to all FReepers praying for us. I woke up several times but stayed calm. Thank you.
Thanks for checking in this morning. Glad you have a chance to let the dog out.
Interesting article from last month...
Nicole made landfall at 0300 EDT just south of Vero Beach FL. Power outages are remarkably low for FP&L, about 185,000.
While it is calm outside, I just did a walk around the yard. No real damage this time. Ian uprooted two large oak trees in the yard and did some house damage. Once the other eye wall gets here the wind will change direction and will be from the south.
G’mornin! Lllong night. Every time I fell asleep the wind or rain and assorted sounds woke me up. Yawn. Whatever dead branches Ian didn’t get are now scattered everywhere. A mess but easier this time. Power off and on but mostly on! Seems a lot windier here than with Ian- but I’m on the dirty side this time. I went out with the pup during a rain break- she was hilarious. Jumping around- then put her nose into the wind and stood there forever. I guess she was getting lots of nose news!
We’re snug and safe and dry. Hope you get through easily- how’s your mom doing?
Gotta brisk breeze this morning over here on the West Coast.
I opened the door for the dogs at about 0700 and they’re like “nope!”
