Former President Donald Trump took a swipe at Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis at a rally on Saturday night referring to him as "Ron DeSanctimonious" in what could be a sign of growing tension between the two potential presidential candidates.

When was the last time Desantis gave any praise to Trump?
When was the last time Desantis was on stage with Trump?
When was the last time Desantis said he was not running in ‘24?
When was the last time Desantis used the term MAGA or America first?
When was the last time Desantis even hinted that the 2020 election was riddled with possible fraud and improprieties ( to say the least )?
Yup - btw I hear Paul Ryan and Jeb bush are involved as well - if not Desantis then they will go after youngkin - big poll baris has been tweeting about it on twitter
Desantis is throwing it all away. What a boob.
Oh. Thanks for clarifying.
How so? How did DeSantis jump the shark?
I wish he would stop this mouthy crap and just go LEAD!
You will note I specified a sort of Republican he should maybe give some slack to.
As for the rest, I do pay attention.
Trump is far less corrupt than FDR but he has not turned aside from the ways of the FDR era Me Too Republicans who felt the need to announce they had programs too in their scramble to compete against him. This country needs to have progressivism ripped out by the roots. Trump may finally be a fighter but he’s not a rip out the roots type. As such his fighting lacks some needed focus as he deals largely with people, their corruption, but not nearly as much their ideology whoch is what really, really makes them bad.
It’s a cringeworthy ad, no doubt. But you’d expect your Democratic opponent in the general election to criticize you for that, not another Republican.
Dems hope to create a big fight among conservatives. I don't think this trick will do much.
After watching that video, the name Desanctimonious fits perfectly.
I’m not fan boy worshiping. I’m noticing how people automatically mob up on trump
He doesnt care. He’s got 6 years of he and his family being mobbed up on by everyone from Putin to Hillary and govt agencies. What does he care abut a bunch of uninformed fair weather friends who’ll vote for him regardless.
I’m noting how flighty people are
They’re like the mob in thebHoly Grail who want to burn the witch.
“”It’s a cringeworthy ad, no doubt””
I had no idea God sent DeSantis to save the world. Good grief.
:). Yes he really should be wimpier. Get the suburban women on board. That will make all the difference. I’m a suburban woman all my friends love DeSantis. He’s so much nicer than trump. He’s not declaring but he’s not not declaring as the media declares for him. Suburban women love that passive aggression. Suburban women should always lead things. They should be president. They’re brilliant just by being against Trump and his confrontational style. Women are so much smarter than men.

Trump just made Ron Desantis a better campaigner if the Governor chooses to listen.
I think he does.
Indeed. A lot of people have already left, and the collections have suffered accordingly.
Trump needs to back off on trashing DeSantis. When Trump wins in ‘24 he should choose a competent but not ambitious VP and help DeSantis win in 28. This isn’t a sprint - it’s a marathon...

They are called voters, they are the electorate and in a representative, constitutional democracy those who seek to rule over us for an election cycle can either lead them and head them or despise them. The Democrats despise them as "deplorable's," or "racists," or "Nazis."
Over the long haul of American history, while few would describe the electorate as the perfect vehicle, it remains our ultimate check on tyranny. Without the people, we are lost. The cure for an electorate one does not agree with is not to despise them or belittle them but to give them a better more persuasive idea.
Trump gave them a better idea in 2016. Too bad his rough edges led too many voters to believe that he was not worthy.
It is not a question of "fair weather" friendship, it is a question of obtaining consent to rule over us. That power has to be earned, it is never owed, Trump is still worthy in my opinion but he makes his task to win that power, and mine as a voter, more difficult-and for no good reason.
