What would their complaint be? They have time to look for another job while they’re still getting paid as employees, although deactivated, and they have more than 60 days notice if February is when they are no longer employed.

60 days is California law. Feb 2023 is more than 60 days. Twitter is safe.

Nope. It’s called being put on the bench. They have until that time to find another position within the company. Since Twitter probably wouldn’t be hiring and if they did, diversity candidates are given preference. If you are white and you were put on the bench, you better start looking elsewhere for a job.

I got a lay-off notice in june 2020 for july 2020 30 days, got a nice severance of 90 days, had to turn in my work laptop after last day of employment

California is a right to work state. Yes it’s legal and the letter made it very clear it is notice and it is more than sixty days so yes it’s legal

I believe the laws vary by state and would expect CA’s to be pro-worker, but I haven’t heard of any that require more than a few months of notice/coverage and I’d expect this three months of standard pay is CA compliant. Team Musk has been a major CA employer for quite some time.
