However, NBC offers new details this morning on the police response before the attack — and Paul Pelosi’s curious reaction to it, at least at first. According to their sources, Pelosi himself opened the door when police arrived, and rather than walk out, began to walk back toward assailant David DePape. DePape even assured police that everything was “good,” which — given the broken window — police clearly didn’t believe.
Only then did the hammer attack occur, prompting an immediate response from the surprised officers, according to NBC:

And, according to the article, the police did NOT know it was the Pelosi residence???

Or thirdly, Pelosi is simply an 82 year old man awakened at 2:30 am, confused and unable to think as cearly as we all would assume that he should be able to. Not making an excuse here, rather pointing out another real possibility. Also more compelling, why were police notified via a Pelosi 911 call? Would not a security system make that call automatically and result in a very rapid response by the SF police?

I’ve seen no explanation as to HOW DePape arrived at Pelosi’s house. He apparently didn’t live within walking distance. Did he drive? Take a Uber? The bus?

On another thread, someone commented that this is all no big deal. Paul Pelosi is a private citizen. So we shouldn’t get obsessed about the incident.
Well, the Democrats just made it a big deal. They are saying that the attack was caused by a MAGA operative under MAGA influence. The Democrats raised the stakes.

Im sure that once the police arrived Pelosi decided his “friend” could no longer have the appearance of being his friend...so Pelosi froze him out and the nutbag went crazy.
I think many here are creating a story of some sort of gay relationship gone bad that just doesn’t hold up to the facts. In doing so, you miss a much more likely story of some sort of extorsion on the part of DD and PP not coming through with the cash (or favors he wanted thru NP or whatever).
It would appear DD DID break in, save your “glass on the outside” columbo detective work, it isn’t correct. Glass goes all over when it breaks, and maybe used the hammer to scrape out shards after breaking.
It would appear the PP knew him in some way, again, maybe drugs or something, then a shakedown break in from a nut job? Then the cops come, Pelosi thought the guy would just leave when he called 911, but he didn’t. Now, Pelosi is between a rock and a hard place - IF the cops show up with DD there it can all come out as to what he’s up to. So when they show up, it turns to Chaos because neither PP nor DD have an explanation.
Then DD follows through on his threat to beat on PP if he doesn’t pay up. He doesn’t care if cops are there because he’s screwed anyhow and nuts anyhow.
Then..... the long cover up of whatever the actual reason for him being there was and why in gods name PP opened the door for cops, no physical contact at that time, then goes back into house where DD is. They started with the “where’s Nancy” yelling - reported by who exactly? Then the hero PP angle - smart as a whip for covert call to 911, then we find out that DD knew about the call, then they tried wrestling over hammer when cops showed up, turns out they were far away from each other when PP answered the door.
Now all that’s left is to try to put off the sordid truth until after Nov. 8th. PP is into something that got him involved with the low end of SF street life. What? Don’t know. It’s clear though that this is a full out cover up, story changes daily, no way to explain the known FACTS and too many departments involved to keep it under wraps forever.
Pelosi is going to announce retirement after the democrats get throttled.

Police say they arrived at Pelosi’s home around 2am Friday to find Pelosi and DePape both gripping a hammer.
They say DePape pried it away and used it to strike Pelosi on the head, knocking Pelosi unconscious. The Speaker’s office said following the attack Mr. Pelosi is expected to make a full recovery.

The officer basically came assuming we were in trouble. When my wife and I answered the door, his first instinct was that she was in trouble.
Hand on gun, he asked her to lift her sleeves so he could see her bare arms. I assume he was checking for bruises.
He decided we were both sincere and suggested we leave the alarm off for the night.
But - he was ready to draw on me if she showed any signs of distress or I moved an inch.
They’re out-doing themselves showing it’s impossible to get a straight story out of the police, the journolists or the particular “victims” in this case. (And yes, I meant journolists.)
Seems Paul and David were having a Sado Masochistic meeting.
