Seriously, can anyone name a well-run Democratic city?
NY Post ^ | 3 Nov 2022 | Douglas Murray

As we draw closer to polling day, there is really only one question anyone needs to have in their head. Are things better or worse than when America last went to the polls?

The problem is that you can answer that differently state by state. A lot of people who fled California in the last couple of years, for instance, can say that their lives have improved by moving to Tennessee, Florida or Texas.

So let me narrow the question down a bit. Can anybody in any Democratic-run city honestly say that their lives — and city — have improved over the last couple of years?

That’s a slightly easier question. As New Yorkers go to the polls it is also a slightly devastating one to ask. Because it has a devastating answer.

I dare even the most die-hard, dyed-in-the-wool Democrat to say, “Oh, New York has never been better. In fact, it’s just getting better and better.” Does anyone really believe that? Is there a single person out there who can really say that with a straight face? As they survey the crime in our city, the homelessness, the waste and rats. And I’m not even talking about the incumbents of City Hall. Does anyone think that this great city has become greater in the last two years?

The Curley Effect. Named after a politician here’s how it works: Get into power in a close election then (1) import in a large population that will live off public handouts and vote for you; (2) drive up crime by ‘bail reform’ and non prosecutions; (3) drive out the taxpayers and productive people in the area who will run away from taxes and crime; (4) result is you go from 51% of the vote to 55%, 60% and then eventually to Detroit.

But why do this?

1. You control the money and hand out contracts to your family and friends.

2. You control the major cities and with that = you control the ENTIRE STATE. Doesn’t matter how folks vote in the ‘rural areas’ of Pennsylvania, Georgia, Wisconsin, and Michigan because you have a death grip on Philly, Atlanta, Milwaukee, and Detroit. You can manufacture as many votes as needed. If anyone complains, they’re racist vote suppressors.

Once you realize all the above is in play, the Democrat ineptitude is actually political (evil) genius.

That’s the problem… Most leftists would say “all of them” regardless of whether it is actually true or not.

Of course, these are the same people that think Biden is doing a great job, and that Fetterman is completely functional enough to do the job of a senator.

Going out on a limb here; the only big city might be Boston, although I haven’t been there in a long time. I always thought that, corrupt as it was and as insane as its politics were, that the city basically functioned. You could get where you needed to go, things were reasonably safe, water came out the faucets. Certainly developers thought it was worth investing in. Mayors et al. seemed to understand that with the graft came a certain minimal level of functionality that the city had to maintain. Maybe that’s changed in recent years.

The phrase, “well-run Democratic city,” is an oxymoron.

The only way these people will listen is when they can’t afford a soy laden latte and able to watching Hallmark streaming because cable is too expensive. Nah, they simply blame Trump and Jesus, even while Democrats are leading them to their demise.

The Leftist would say none, but they would blame it on “White Flight” and that the “white” suburbs get all the resources instead of the cities.

The demise of the major cities started with offshoring of industry which was a right winger thing from the get-go. The Democrats took the ball and ran with it. Both sides are to blame.
