Republican Ron DeSantis of Florida is among the governors who have vowed that COVID-19 shots won't be mandated for schoolchildren in his state in the wake of a CDC panel's decision to recommend adding the vaccine to the routine childhood immunization schedule.

Some states, such as Massachusetts and Virginia, simply adopt the CDC schedule while others rely on the agencies guidance.

But others have laws in place barring schools from requiring the COVID-19 vaccine for students.

Here's how some states, as the Daily Caller News Foundation reports, are handling the CDC recommendation:

🔬🦠😵‍💫😷🚫💉 When will "I prefer NOT!" be acceptable? Never? How long before certain federal funding will be withheld from states that fail to comply? In states that may require vax, how long before home schooling is 'decertified'?

Wyoming: Republican Gov. Mark Gordon's office said the governor "has not mandated vaccines for adults or children, and believes that COVID-19 vaccination is a personal choice."

Iowa: A law went effect in July that exempts students in K-12 schools from vaccine requirements until 2029, the Des Moines Register reported.

Oklahoma: A 2021 law prohibits schools from requiring a COVID-19 vaccine to attend the school. Republican Gov. Kevin Stitt said Thursday, "Regardless of what the CDC says, as long as I am governor, we will never force kids to get a COVID vaccine to go to school."

Montana: A law barring discrimination based on one’s vaccination status applies to all "educational opportunities."

Indiana: Public school districts by law are prohibited from requiring students, employees and parents to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination.

West Virginia: No state entity can require proof of COVID-19 vaccination to enter or utilize services.

South Carolina: School districts can't require the COVID-19 vaccine for student attendance. Republican Gov. Henry McMaster told the DCNF that "as long as I am governor, I will never let the federal government – or anyone else – force the COVID-19 vaccine on South Carolina school children."

Florida: Educational institutions are prohibited from enacting a COVID-19 mandate.

Georgia: School districts can't require the vaccine to receive an education.

Mississippi: Schools are prohibited from requiring students to get the COVID-19 vaccine to attend.

Arkansas: Vaccine passports are banned, "including as a condition for education."

Arizona: A law bars the COVID-19 vaccine from being required to attend the school.

Alabama also prohibits mandatory covid-19 vaccinations for children. The state law also extends to more than just schools.

If the issue had been forgotten, namely, the democrats pulling a Terry McCaullife and saying that the schools and state are in charge of your kids, the CDC just handed a nice gift to those fighting this battle.

https://vaccines.procon.org/state-vaccination-exemptions-for-children-entering-public-schools/

Wow, PA is one of 15 least restrictive.

No US federal vaccination laws exist, but all 50 states have laws requiring children attending public school to be vaccinated against diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (generally in a DTaP vaccine); polio (an IPV vaccine); measles and rubella (generally in an MMR vaccine); and varicella (chickenpox). All 50 states allow medical exemptions, 44 states allow religious exemptions, and 15 states allow philosophical (or personal belief) exemptions. DC allows medical and religious exemptions. While reasonable effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the information provided, do not rely on this information without first checking with your local school or government. Reminder to parents: you can never get your children UNshot. You can get them shot any time down the road when these products are deemed to be safe AND effective. I would not do it until that day arrives.

There was a rumor going around that Jay Inslee of Washington State would use the ‘emergency powers’ he still has (until Oct. 31st) to declare a mandatory COVID vaxx requirement in order to attend school. That was supposedly shot down by the governor’s office, saying there were ‘absolutely no plans’ to do this.

Given the wack-a-doo policies he already espouses, not to mention that he’s an acolyte of the WEF, I trust him about as far as I can toss a Buick.

Thanks for the info. My little yellow vax card was lost many years ago in on of the many moves. I suppose at my age anyone that cares assumes that all the ‘required’ jabs were administered.

The chicken pox vaccine makes zero sense. It’s only effective for 10 years — and chicken pox is much worse if you get it later in life.

Yup-—in 2001 we were hoodwinked in giving our kids the Chicken pox vaccine. Our son got Chicken pox twice.

“Effective and safe...”

I agree with the poster. How long before home schooling becomes “anti-American?”

A classmate caught chicken pox at age 12 and almost died. She was in the hospital for more than a month. In the early 2000s, there was an out break of measles that spread widely at Disney World. I’m wondering if the same thing will happen with chicken pox and cause death in adults who were vaccinated as children. My grandfather was apparently immune to the virus but my great grandmother was terrified it would kill him in adulthood.

I can attest to that. My mom thought all of her children had gotten chickenpox when we were kids. Ok there were 6 of us, and I get that you can’t remember every little thing. Turns out that my younger sister and I had not ever gotten sick with it, and our nephew had it when he was in second grade. I was home visiting at Christmas, and bingo, I got it a couple of weeks later. I broke out on my 25th birthday. Helluva way to spend your birthday. I missed dinner out at my favorite restaurant that night. Mom and dad were in town, and I couldn’t go! They did bring home dessert, but yes, I was very sick.

I keep a close eye on mine since I found out I’m immune to smallpox. I got the inoculation like everybody else but mine never scabbed. Went back to the doc and he inoculated me again - still no scab. Third time, he said, “Well, he can’t get on the plane (to Pakistan, where Dad was taking over as Assistant Air Attache) without a scab”, and raked the needle back and forth over my 7-year-old arm.
