If he wins, I hope he works on restoring New York City back to the once greatest city in the world. Giuliani did it as Mayor. Safest city in the country.
This has always been my guess too. People are less likely to donate to a lost cause (especially when they are donating so they can get a “favor” later on)

I went to a well-known northeastern prep (boarding) school many decades ago.
We were not allowed to smoke cigarettes in the dorm rooms—but there were separate dorms for seniors and in those dorms you were allowed to smoke pipes.
Almost everybody smoked pipes in the dorm—and almost everybody stopped smoking them after graduation.

Smoking a pipe made you look studious and intelligent. Sometimes it even attracted girls. Had already completed my military obligation(USAF). Wearing my uniform once a month at reserve meetings attracted girls but not their parents who regarded me as some brainless stud trying to get into their daughter’s pants.
