According to the Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles City Council President Nury Martinez, a Latina Democrat, recently referred to a councilman’s Black son as a “monkey”-- and also said in reference to liberal Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon, “he’s with the Blacks.”
This prompted MSNBC host Tiffany Cross to ask Fordham University law professor Tanya Hernández if making racist comments made a Latino white or just a racist racial minority. Hernández, a self-proclaimed “race law expert” with an interest in Critical Race Theory, replied:
“Well, I actually think that there is another layer to this. Some people within the Latino community do achieve whiteness, one, because they are white appearing, they favor more our European ancestors, and depending on their accent, their educational level, whether they actually have a recognizable Hispanic surname, that all those things that enable a person to, I wouldn’t call it passing, but seemingly—just-- and seamlessly being able to pass into whiteness, or white Anglo-whiteness, just as they have whiteness within Latin America and the Caribbean. Um, so, I guess what I want to say is that despite this idea of all Latinos being brown, you know, some browns are browner than others and some whites are whiter than others. There are Latinos who are white, whether they have that personal identity or not, that’s their socially ascribed race from others outside, and they get to move in that privilege as well.”
Latinos are incapable of exhibiting racist behavior unless and until they “achieve” whiteness? Say what?! Hernández sounded like a cross between Kamala Harris and a laundry detergent commercial. Some browns are browner than other browns and some whites are whiter than white?!

I told her (I think it was a "her") that regardless of power or control or whatever, if you hate someone, they are going to hate you back.

Does it matter that you don't have power when, by your "non-racism," you have made people hate you?

The war in our country between "individual freedom" and communism is a war of ideas.
I love a good boxing match, but punching isn't the way to win a debate.
Our ideas have to overwhelm their ideas.
And, frankly, though it may not look like it, we are winning.
The only way communism can win at this point is to take the fight to the streets and to try a military takeover of the government.
It the Left doesn't establish a totalitarian government soon, the pendulum is going to swing back in our direction.

No. It isn't.
If the Left establishes a totalitarian government in our country, it's goal will not be equality or fairness or equity or diversity. It's goals will be defense of itself and increase of its power and wealth.
This last goal--increase its power and wealth--will translate into getting rid of non-productive people and people who make trouble. That doesn't mean White people. They are productive and tend to do the work with little trouble.
Yup! And of all the sins in this world, the only one that is worse is actually being White!!!

I do agree that if a totalitarian government is established in the U.S. and, particularly if it is established globally, there will be a massive genocide.
That said, rather than ovens it may be accomplished via lab-created viruses.

The “additional layer” argument: OUR people cannot be racist because racism is, by definition, right-wing.

It is presumption that progressivism is good and anything else is bad. As Herbert Marcuse said, if you’re not a communist, you’re a fascist. As he also said, violence against fascist is self-defense.
It is why Putin, Lukashenko, Noriega and Madura jail their political opponents, as does the regime in Washington; because, in their view, their political opponents are criminals.
It’s a time for choosing, boys and girls. There’s no middle ground any more. If you’re a Jack Kennedy-Democrat, you’ve got to switch and become a Jack Kennedy-Republican.

I think Latino’s (e.g. out of Spain) race is white and they’re ethnically, latino.
I am speaking in broad terms here, but making the distinction between race and ethnicity.
“Hispanic” is a meaningless term.
It can include someone with a Spanish surname who is totally white and speaks no Spanish;
someone from Brazil who speaks Portuguese and is 50/50 white/black;
Someone from Columbia who is pure Native American and speaks a tribal language.
I would be interested if you find the book or remember its title or author. I didn’t know that H. said that gentiles could become Jews - of course, H viewed anyone civilized as being tainted. The left’s obsession with combating “whiteness” and how whites have a conspiracy to run everything sure reminds me of the old slanders and conspiracy theories about Jews.
Actually, if you swap some words she sounds like a Nazi.
The attraction to Communism is the idea that “I’m going to get a share of the wealth of the Rich!”
What increasing numbers of people are realizing is that, to the billions of people in the Third World, WE ARE THE RICH, and they want to come here and make us support them.
The realization tends to detract from the appeal of Socialism.
