ALEXANDRIA, Virginia — A jury has found Russian national Igor Danchenko not guilty on four false statements charges, declining to convict him for the allegations that the main source of British ex-spy Christopher Steele had lied to the FBI about his sourcing for the discredited anti-Trump dossier.
The jury reached their decision on Tuesday after less than two days of deliberations, delivering John Durham another defeat in his long-running investigation of the Trump-Russia investigators, after the special counsel lost another false statements case against a Clinton campaign lawyer in May.
According to Durham’s November 2021 indictment, Danchenko anonymously sourced a fabricated claim about Trump 2016 campaign manager Paul Manafort to Charles Dolan, a Clinton ally who spent years, including 2016, doing work for Russian businesses and the Russian government, but in a blow to Durham’s case, the judge threw out that charge before the jury could decide on it.
One charge had been dismissed by the judge last week, and on Tuesday a jury was reached shortly before the end of the day. It has not been announced yet.

"This only justifies those who want to rectify this situation by other more harsh means."
I searched the entire thread and was surprised to find this sentiment so far down.
Conservatives have always been champions of law and order.
Where indeed do they (we) turn when the system fails the "rule of law and order"?
And yet another reason to punctuate the fact that we live, indeed, in perilous times.
The GOP never has hand. Never.
The not guilty verdict was pre-determined long ago. They just had to go through the motions to get there.
Here’s my take on the verdict :
The question after this verdict then becomes: if you lied to the FBI, but the FBI didn’t care enough to thoroughly investigate what you lied about, do they really count as genuine lies or just lies that FBI political hacks didn’t care about?
That’s what it’s looking like to me!
Durham isn’t trying to lose. He’s trying to build a case against the higher ups. What these stupid juries think is of no consequence.
I told everyone when he was appointed he is part of the coverup. And that he’d lose every case he brings.
Do you really think Biden and Garland would let him continue if he wasn’t in on the coverup?
Yeah he has cases against much bigger fish that he'll bring to trial to be acquitted.
In that scenario you start by pursuing the bottom level players and work your way up. He’s gotten one conviction which led to a light sentence. What do you think he’s gotten from the people he’s investigated that will lead to anyone higher up?
Durham’s case was so weak that they didn’t even put up a defense.
yup, as unexpected as the sun rising in the east
Trust The Plan.
LOL - the FBI created the Russia Hoax!
Durham was not going to get a conviction on any charge he filed in Washington D.C. or northern Virginia.
Regardless, Durham had an opportunity to tear off the FBI's bogus facade of probity and honor, and he decided to do nothing.
Proof!! Please!!
Never will dems get a bad decision anywhere in the DC area, probably the entire northeast.
They were saying on Fox yesterday that the Judge didn’t allow of the evidence to be heard. Then he threw out the charge about talking to someone because it was via email and Judge felt that was consider talking about it if its in an email. Dechanko defense brought that up to Judge and he went with it.
FBI agents asked Dechanko if he talked with so and so. vs saying did you have any communications with so and so.
So saying something in an email about an an item, issue, etc is now not considered talking about it. How stupid of an argument for a Judge to go along with.
Long ladder with short rungs. FBI corruption realized as justice slowly ensnares them and the puppeteers.
I wish we conservatives would march in the streets and yell that but then we all have jobs...
