“You’ll likely notice a deluge of ads about hearing aids...”
If it’s TV commercials...it’ll be all black people with the problem.
My Samsung earbuds were tuned by my Galaxy phone. Essentially they give you a hearing test via tones in the buds and adjust for the frequencies independently of each ear. It was like getting a new pair of glasses but for music and calls.
The buds don’t have but a small ambient sound capability, but I could see this working for hearing aids with the right software and tuning capabilities.
Our adult sons cracked the deaf ears code re my wife and I a long time ago. If they want both my wife and I to hear them:
They sit on a smaller couch across the room from my wife and on my left side (good ear) She hears them with her good right ear.
They like to tease us and often sit on the long couch with my wife’s deaf left ear facing them and my deaf right ear faces them. Then, they talk in low voices murmur to really mess with us.
Mine too, but I couldn’t imagine getting hearing aids without them being set right
I didn't need a prescription in either Washington or Texas when I bought my Kirkland aids at Costco (first set in Washington, second set in San Antonio, TX when the first set died after eight years).
Mostly not.
Correct.
Many sounds, called sibilants, get up to 12-16K, such as “S” sounds and “T” sounds.
It makes it tough, especially when listening to women.
Hate hearing aids (itching), but I got some great news from the VA a few months ago.
After 53 years, I got the inside about using a VSO to help with claim paperwork for my hearing loss.
They set up testing, and just granted me 50% disability.
Suppose i could have filed decades ago, but my only contact with the VA for a home loan really soured me on dealing with them.
Does not fix my hearing, but getting some extra money in retirement sweetens things a bit.
Great! Now do CPAPs.
Hell, they ought to GIVE THEM AWAY!......................
Exactly my same scenario!....................
