Link only Bloomberg article that may explain why the chip embargo basically went into place overnight. It's very possible that Xi Jinping will move on Taiwan in the next two years. And that is presumably why Biden has given 3 warnings to China, and Xi is downplaying any new policy on Taiwan. The big game we've been waiting for in the Western Pacific? It's coming. Anyone invested in equities should prepare to assume the position. What position? BOHICA.
China’s military is an even bigger disaster than Russia’s. They also suffer from the graft/corruption problem. Many of China’s “new” weapons are plastic or wooden models, and many don’t work even if produced. Not to mention that Chinese troops have no combat experience.
Taiwan, by contrast, has 2,000,000 well trained (in Western ways) troops and is armed to the teeth with advanced weapons. China’s “blockade” will be sunk and the troops will never make it across the Strait.
The West has been fortunate that the Russians were overconfident and that the Ukrainians have fought their enemy well. But do Biden (or his staff), Liz Truss in Britain, and Macron in France want to throw the Western militaries, crippled by woke politics and underfunded armies, navies, and air forces,against China or Russia should Ukraine or Taiwan succumb to their respective bullies?
Now see? You have had an interesting life. :P xoxo Kristi
From someone's perspective these seemingly irrational choices make sense. That's what we need to understand. How and why...
I don't know why the Western leadership is assuming that if the Russians or the Chinese triumph over the respective small countries they are bullying, that NATO or an American Japanese and Australian military combination will win. You must question their rationality when:
*They push the green agenda at the same time Russian oil and natural gas have been cut off on the West's own initiative;
*They deplete military stockpiles to give to the Ukrainians while having no strategy to speed up replacements.
*They fail to adequately staff their militaries and to provide state of the art equipment in sufficient numbers.
*They run multi-trillion dollar/euro/pound sterling deficits in a rising interest rate environment.
We are either dealing with very delusional thinking, on the order of Hitler in the last few years of World War II or Chinese and Russian influence is so great that the leaders are acting in clear violation of their national interests.
