Sen. Hassan Backs Out of New Hampshire Debate With Republican Challenger

U.S. Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.) has backed out of a scheduled debate with her Republican challenger and political newcomer Don Bolduc.

Wendy Hunt, president of the Nashua Chamber of Commerce, told The Epoch Times that Hassan has asked to appear separately on stage for the Oct. 12 event.

Hunt declined to comment further, saying only in an email to The Epoch Times about the change that Hassan would appear first, followed by Bolduc.

Hunt was cited by the NH Journal as saying that the Hassan campaign contacted her on Oct. 6, indicating that the incumbent would participate only if it were “a stand-alone forum, not a debate.”

Hassan has also insisted that Bolduc not be present when she speaks, Kate Constantini, a com strategist for Bolduc, told The Epoch Times.

“He can’t even be in the audience,” said Constantini, “he has to stay in the green room.”

The Hassan campaign didn’t respond to inquiries by The Epoch Times about the cancellation, and Hassan has released no statement about it.

The debate is billed as a luncheon event and has been listed for weeks on the chamber’s calendar. It’s part of its candidate series, which includes a scheduled debate on Oct. 18 between New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu and Democratic challenger Tom Sherman, and an Oct. 25 debate between U.S. Rep. Chris Pappas and Republican challenger Karoline Leavitt.

Sinema could be attractive if she lost 40 pounds.

That’s all I could potentially say nice...

Or perhaps the contrary, her internals are her telling her that the general is closing and moving fast but she has concluded that her best course is to avoid a public humiliation in which she must defend the indefensible record of supporting the Biden administration with its heating bills in New Hampshire and slide on toward the election doing nothing but trying with television adds to attach her opponent to Trump and "extremism."

That’s what they DO:

They get OUTRAGED! They run screaming this is THE END, THE WORST, THE NASTINESS...and then they smile, because that is the message.

We DON’t do that. It is childish and unbecoming professional behavior.

I think this strategy is NOT going to be as effective as in the past.

Politicians ducking debates is the new thing. So we can save democracy.

I attended at Bolduc Rally yesterday, in Brentwood NH.

Tulsi Gabbard was there as well, and spoke; she sounded like a Rand Paul Constitutionalist. Great affection and camaraderie was apparent between General Bolduc & Gabbard.

The large auditorium was packed, very high energy in the room. Parking lot overflowing, people had to park along the roads.

I saw many MA license plates on cars in the parking lot. :)

Even with a massively compliant media, they can’t handle an hour of unfiltered disclosure of their views and positions.

Not only the heating bills have been effected by the price of heating oil and natural gas. NH and MA have had their electric rates by the utility Eversource raised by 70-100% since August. This is a direct result by the NIMBY people who were against the Northern Pass transmission line in NH and the Kinder Morgan natural gas line from PA through MA & NH.

There is a radio ad on one of the Boston stations that has been playing where the Dem candidate for Governor is quoted how “she stopped the Kinder Morgan pipeline”. It is a great ad IMHO. Stopping this pipelines construction resulted in higher natural gas costs in New England because the utility has to compete with LNG prices in Europe when bringing in NG to power the electric plants. There are not enough pipelines bringing NG to New England.

Shhh!

Keep this quiet. Usually the keypad for these is in a metal box on the frame near the hitch. There is often a padlock on it and the padlock is on one of two or three key cuts and everybody working there has a copy of those keys.

Same applies with just about all municipalities, utilities, and construction companies.

Once you unlock the box, you just type in what you want it to say. Oftentimes there is a password you have to type in first. Nearly 100% of the time, the password is the serial number on the plate right next to the box.

Best wishes!

I have a sister living in Salem NH who would disagree. As improbable as it sounds, this is a winnable seat. Hassan only won by about 1,000 votes in 2016.
