Independent Utah Senate candidate Evan McMullin said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that he will not caucus with either party if he beats incumbent Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) on November 8.
McMullin said, “I am running as an independent. I’m building a coalition of Republicans, Democrats, Independents, and members of third parties to better represent Utah and to help lead our country forward. And I’m not going to Washington to join a party or to caucus or to play the party power game. I’m going to represent our coalition, and that’s a commitment that I’ve made to our coalition that I’ll maintain my independence.”
Anchor Chuck Todd said, “All six years if you serve all six years the entire time you’re in the Senate, you will not join either party’s caucus, giving them officially your vote?”

We're not fooled.
Bernie Sanders is an "independent" too. As is Angus King. As was Jim Jeffords after the betrayal.
They all vote(d) for Democrat agenda items, no matter what they call(ed) themselves or who they caucus(ed) with.
Vote Mike Lee.
Egg McMuffin? Never heard of him.
He’ll vote like the other “Independent”, Bernie Sanders. That is 100% with the far left Dem agenda.
Chuckle.
But no problem. He won’t be elected.
IOW, he represents the worst of all political worlds...
He’s Liar.
If his lips are moving, he’s lying.
Sure, you won’t, Evan.
Bill Kristol is once again rubbing his hands together with
glee and delight.
What a LIAR. .....what a NIMROD.
Hes a PSTUPID MORMON MORON.
Forget the letter after the name.
He’s Deep State.
dumba## Evan, you aren’t supposed to be going to DC for a “coalition” (certain group you feel chummy with), but for your constituents, all those in the area you are supposed to be representing! Get to know them! Then see if you really want the job, not the pretend job you think you want.
No problem Evan. You won’t have the opportunity.
That means he either won’t get the committee assignments he wants or he’ll have to make a deal to get them. And is he to be assigned to a committee as a member of the majority or of the minority? I wonder if he’s lying or if he just hasn’t thought about what he’s saying.
I don’t know that the internet is big enough to hold an “if” that large.
yeah just like comrade Bernie. This give Mitt cover so he endorse the “independent”.
Horsecrap.
Not caucusing with either side is going to help his
constituents a lot.
This will be the man forgotten by history.
Is Evan McMillin even a serious contender? Only things he has going for himself is that he is a Mormon in Utah with the tacit support of Mitt Romney. Not sure either of those factors would help all that much, as the “Mormon” designation does not differentiate much, and Mitt Romney is singularly lacking in broad support within Utah.
What kind of stupid statement is that?!
Not “I’m an independent”, not “I’ll vote for America against the extremes of both parties” but “I won’t caucus with either party?”
GOP knows he’ll vote Dems so they won’t vote for him. Dems know he’ll swing to GOP sometimes so they’ll stick with the Dem candidate.
No wonder Obama thought he was a genius - he’s right up Obama’s alley.
