Seems a little unlikely since Sarandon was one year older than Bacall. No family connections are mentioned in the biographies of either one.
Why are you so literally minded. Those twp obnoxious women were truly sisters under the skin. Unfortunately one still has to use present tense in speaking of the truly vile Sarandon.

Bacall was 22 years old when Sarandon was born - so, theoretically, Bacall could have been Sarandon's mother.
But I think that it's obvious that the epithet "linear ancestress" was NOT to be taken literally.
