Bacall was 22 years old when Sarandon was born - so, theoretically, Bacall could have been Sarandon's mother.

But I think that it's obvious that the epithet "linear ancestress" was NOT to be taken literally.

I pulled up a wiki page that said Sarandon was born in 1923. I see that it doesn't say that now and I should have known she isn't that old.
