Zelensky never called for nuclear strikes by the west. It’s Russia that calls for nuclear war and Putin who threatens it. Zelensky said”preventative strikes” then corrected himself to say “preventative action.” How in the hell did the invader and the one threatening Armeggeddon become the good guy to you idiots. As for the Minsk Agreements, Russia repeatedly violated them as well as the Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances that assured Ukrainian security in exchange fore Ukraine surrendering the 3d largest nuclear stockpile in the world.

nations Putin and his generals have popped off about this
year using the same language they did about the Ukraine
before invading it.
Putin himself said he wanted to be Peter the Great II, who
consolidated new land masses for Russia. Why should folks
not believe that, once he had started invading?

To the contrary. I have long been interested in understanding why Putin felt that Ukraine needed to be invaded.
From where I sit, the justification never made any sense.
If I understand this right, a Pro-Russian governor was elected in Crimea, and was then overthrown by agitators and rebels. Russian then invaded Crimea to protect Russians living there and to restore a Pro-Russian government.
That was back in 2014. I can grasp those reasons just fine, but why invade the rest of Ukraine in 2022?
Because some Ukrainian troops have "Nazi" symbols on their uniforms? Because the USA is running "Bioweapon labs" in Ukraine?
Is any of that worth the cost in blood and treasure?
So tell me, why did Putin need to invade Ukraine?
