New poll shows Republican leading in Rhode Island House race: poll

Republican candidate Allan Fung holds an 8 percentage point lead over Democrat Seth Magaziner in Rhode Island’s 2nd Congressional District, according to a new poll.

A Suffolk University-Boston Globe poll released on Tuesday showed Fung, the former mayor of Cranston, R.I., receiving 45 percent among general election voters in the state, compared to Magaziner, the state’s general treasurer, with 37 percent.

A separate 13 percent said they were undecided, while 5 percent said they supported independent candidate William Gilbert.

The seat has been held by Rep. Jim Langevin (D-R.I.) for two decades, but he announced earlier this year he wouldn’t be seeking reelection, leaving the seat open. The polling demonstrates that the Rhode Island House seat could be a key pickup opportunity for Republicans in November.

Langevin won the seat by more than 40 points in 2020, but the Cook Political Report has ranked the open seat as a “toss up.”

Meanwhile, the GOPe channel known as Fox News is proclaiming a “tight race” for control of congress.

I see that Seth Magaziner is the son of Ira Magaziner, hard core leftist during his student days at Brown, well know globalist and a Clinton poodle.

Doesn’t RI have all mail-in voting, and ballots accepted for 2 weeks after?

I watched Fox News for the first time in a while the other day and was shocked out how despicable they’ve become on reporting.

No worries. Democrats have a large shipment of mail-in ballots on order.

FiveThirtyEight rates this district as “Leans D” even though all three polls they list have Fung leading by at least 6. Cook rates it as a “Toss Up.” RCP just moved their rating over to “Leans GOP.”

If he’s ahead by 8 in this poll, he’ll win.

Maybe I’m being overly optimistic...but if a Republican congressional candidate is leading a Dem in the uber-left state of RI by 8pts, in a district where Brandon won by 25 pts, I see a nation-wide red tsunami coming next month.

Isn’t RI one of those blue states where Xiden had to cheat on the census to keep them from losing a seat?

How ironic would that be if he lost a seat that he cheated to keep?

How anyone on a Blue State can vote Democrat is beyond me. Especially in light of all the human and economic carnage caused directly by Democrat economic, border and crime policies.

Forgive my skepticism but I don’t believe it. Somehow someway the rats are going to pull a win out of the hat

Another surprise might be Connecticut’s 5th district. The 5th major city is Waterbury and it is not as Democrat as Bridgeport, New Haven or Hartford. The second might flip, too...

I saw a comment by a seemingly well-informed political handicapper who said that people are going to be surprised to find that Rhode Island and Delaware will become purple states in a few years.
