After Big Tech Giant PayPal told the whole world they would be fining people for ‘misinformation’ ($2500!!!), and then tried to backpedal claiming it was a mistake when the pushback was of a GLOBAL nature, seems their stock is kinda sorta taking a beating today.
And by kinda sorta, we mean a serious beating.
Couldn’t happen to a nicer, more deserving company.
Oh yes, yes we can.
At the time of this writing they’ve rebounded a bit (only down 5.64%) but pretty safe to say their actions are impacting their stock in a bad way. And c’mon, did they really think anyone would believe them? They ACCIDENTALLY told the world they’d fine people $2500 for misinformation? This would have gone through legal, design, user experience … this had to be something they’ve been working on for quite a while.
This was no accident.
They just didn’t think they’d get nuked the way they did.
And thank God they did.
Misinformation Fine.
Ri-damn-diculous.
Just when we thought 2022 couldn’t get any dumber.
I stand corrected.
Makes no sense at all..if you use PayPal to pay a bill how the hell do they say you support misinformation etc?

My wife used them once to order a outdoor deckbox about 150 gallon size. After waiting several weeks, a box made out of cardboard approximately the size of a breadbox arrived. Pay pal would not credit my account until I returned the box to china at my expense. Fortunately, wife had used a credit card and my Credit Card company immediately credited my account. Wife now knows not to use pay pal.
“This was no accident.”
But it was a mistake, just not like they meant.
What makes people think government doesn’t have similar plans in place for all of us?
You paid/donated to Free Republic for example...a source of “misinformation” in PayPal’s opinion.
That being said I think the focus of the PalPal TOS update (to be implemented Nov. 3, ‘22) were businesses/organizations....the receivers of PayPal payments/money. If found to be sources of “misinformation” then you get your PayPal account suspended and $2500. deducted as a “fine”.
I got rid of my PP. I don’t use it much anyway. If they act like this I don’t want them having access to my accounts. I used to just use them for ebay but you don’t have to anymore. My PP credit card can also go in the shredder. I have never used it.
Yep. They believe they are too big to be hurt by a few malcontents unwilling to submit to their moral grandstanding.
I see what your saying.... I use PayPal on some sights for the security vice direct CC. People here will bxtch but they use it as well and also use Amazon as do I for convenience. Don’t agree with their policy but haven’t found a suitable alternative.
If you donate to any Republican candidate, except Liz Cheney, you are bigoted, intolerant, homophobic, transphobic, sexist, racist, etc. $2500 for each violation.
I hope he does that. Millions putting pressure on companies who deal with the fascist PayPal.
We’ll... In reality, $2500 per vote is cheap compared to what dems pay 🤣🤣🤣
I’ve been wondering about this, too. Other vendors are not using GloriFi yet. Perhaps they will later this week, one can hope.
PayPal fined for misinformation!
Yeah, am also tired of CC fraudulent charges causing my CC to be “reissued” with a new #. There are other payment services out there (not “Venmo” it is owned by PayPal)...such as “Zelle”, “PopMoney” and “Cash App”. As far as online CC payments go I am probably going to open a free account with “Privacy.com” to get some “Virtual Credit Cards” to use with online subscriptions and merchants.
Roberto was a Cuban steeped neck deep in Latin American liberation theology. Coca Cola was just another brand to him, just something else to sell.
I haven’t use my paypal in a very long time and I just tried to log in to close my account but I can’t they want a phone number to log in ,LOL
If someone was trying to swindle me through Paypal, I can see why that might be subject to sanction, but I doubt that that is what they mean by "misinformation" here.
Where is Elon Musk?
Isn't he one of the founders of Paypal?
I have been a Paypal customer for 25+ years. It has treated me very well, Okay, their fees are a bit high, but how else I could have sold over 200 used golf clubs? I have 100% rating on Paypal.
I think the number of people closing accounts is much worse than has been reported.

I’ll agree with this response.
Working out relocating a few autopays from them to replacement vendors. Anti-2A and now anti-1A, right at the edge of “Social Credit Score” testing.
