Russian Sabotage Of The Nord Stream Pipeline Marks A Point Of No Return
Forbes ^

Posted on 09/29/2022 8:02:53 AM PDT by MNDude

However, the attacks on Nord Stream are more dire than anything we previously saw. This act of sabotage signals a point of no return. The economic damage caused by these attacks is going to land Europe in a recession as deep as the recession of 2009. The environmental damage is immense, with millions of tons of methane polluting the ocean and environment.

This winter, Europe is doomed to face the worst energy crisis since the Arab oil embargo of 1974, or worse.

European leaders have already identified and condemned Russia as the obvious culprit. Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki described the presumed attack as the “next step of escalation of the situation in Ukraine” while the Danish prime minister Mette Frederiksen called them “deliberate acts”. President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen promised “the strongest possible response to attacks on European energy infrastructure”. Norway responded by deploying its armed forces to guard pipelines from any further “accidents”.

Taking out the gas lines would be a piece of cake for one of the the US Navy’s Underwater Demolition Teams.

Yeah seems pretty stupid that they would make their however many billion dollar investment completely for nothing.

The only sort of convincing theory I’ve heard is that Putin needed to ensure any coup successor would not have the ability to turn the gas flow back on and start making big money. Maybe this keeps him safe from his own generals for a little longer.

Only someone incredibly stupid would believe Russian sabotaged its own pipelines.

I find it interesting the media writes their stories as if the fact has already been established that Russia has sabotaged the pipeline which they have not.

The media wants us to go to war and are willing to lie like they did in Iraq.

Forbes is now basically owned by a Hong Kong group.

Russia is on the list of possible actors to do it. So is the US.

But the big question is motive. Who has the means, motive and opportunity?

Because Putin needs the propaganda to rally troop enrollment.

So he blows up his cash cow.

What's sad is you are so dim you believe your own lies.

It impacts not just Russia. It impacts Europe more. The people of Europe and Russia need to end the war ASAP. The problem is the leaders.

The outright gall of the propagandists at the Forbes rag to assign blame to Russia without evidence.

The Forbes rag, and its advertisers, have discredited themselves even further than they already had.

Well, we have a mystery on our hands, don't we? A crime, certainly...so when solving a crime, don't we first take a look at who actively threatened to commit it? That would be a fellow named Biden and his State Department representative named Nulan. Would Biden be rotten enough to interfere with a country's energy lifeline for politics? Have we forgotten the Keystone pipeline already? So what we have here is a suspect with both a threat and a past history, and his name isn't Putin.

Here we must separate the interests of the principal actors and their respective countries, because they're not the same. Could Putin do such a thing in order to prevent his country from backsliding? Certainly, although it is more in Russia's national interests to keep her options open by twisting the valves herself. Could Biden do such a thing despite the inevitable economic damage it will cost the U.S.? Certainly. What about the Chinese, who have already availed themselves of selling Russian oil at a hefty markup? Plenty of money there (although it will also lead to their funding the rebuilding of the Russian army, which argues not in the long term). Putin's shambolic invasion did, after all, follow a State Department leak to the Chinese (and hence to Russia) concerning NATO membership. Norway? Hardly, since they're already selling Europe all the energy they can pump. Ukraine? Poland? Liechtenstein? The suspect list is getting pretty thin here.

This is international politics, not a game of Clue, so I'll leave it at that, but the top of my list remains Biden and the State Department and whoever might be driving them. Whoever did do it feels that risking genuine hardship for Europe is an acceptable price to pay for power. Quite a lot of power.

There has only been ONE “leader” who ever threatened to destroy this pipeline.

Just one. And he PROMISED he would do it.
