Americans' opinions concerning former President Donald Trump have remained stable through the summer, even though he faces multiple investigations, and he has continued to play a major role in the midterm election decisions, with 44% viewing him favorably and 53% unfavorably, the most recent New York Times/Siena College poll shows.
The poll was conducted earlier this month, after the news about the Justice Department's investigation of Trump and classified documents broke but before New York Attorney General Letitia James announced Wednesday that her state was suing Trump and his family business on claims of fraud, The New York Times reported Thursday.
Trump's support levels in the most recent poll, released on Sept. 16, changed little, if any, from a survey conducted in July while the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 incidents at the Capitol was showing televised hearings. Further, the levels of support for Trump have changed little from those in other New York Times/Siena polls and in other polls taken in recent years, the newspaper reported.
. . .
- Views on Trump's fight against the election results from the 2020 race remained mostly unchanged, with 54% saying his actions threaten democracy and 38% saying he was exercising his rights.
- Trump's policy proposals remained popular, with half of the respondents favoring a border wall, including 15% who said they plan to vote for President Joe Biden's reelection in 2024.
- A majority agreed more with Republicans than Democrats on illegal immigration.
. . .
Trump's level of support also remained about the same among Hispanic voters, especially young men.
In other results:
- 30% said they consistently hold pro-Trump views, and 39% said they hold views described as anti-Trump, and almost 30 had mixed opinions.
- 14% said they plan to support Trump in 2024, but thought his actions after the 2020 election threatened democracy.

I have been a big Trump supporter, but I am now favoring De Santis for 2024. Reasons are Trump is getting up there in age and can only serve one term. Additionally, he conjures up too much controversy.

You really think they won’t conjure up controversy with DeSantis?

Polling? If some random person calls me and asks if I still support Trump, I would answer “FU FBI!”, grab my bug out bag and head for the hills.

Not likely.
I think most Americans see Trump as the Hero who supports their priorities and who has fought tirelessly for them.
Though, I can guarantee that all of those polled do "believing in âMurica."

Additionally, he conjures up too much controversy. If the goal is to "avoid controversy," we should only go with Assistant Democrats.

I think all these frivolous investigations and sham lawsuits are having the unintended effect of actually ginning up sympathy for Trump even among people that wouldn’t otherwise care.

The problem with this poll is that Diaper Joe and the Hoe have declared war on decent Americans that support Trump but they are not dumb enough to tell a complete stranger that they support him after seeing what happens to those who dare to resist the current regime. Who knows if their phones are being tapped by the FBI and other Stasi forces.

There is nothing in the factual record to support your position. Just the law of averages.
As for "Trump is getting up there in age and can only serve one term", Trump is as healthy as an Ox and shows no sign of slowing down, but only appears to be getting stronger.
As for the "Mean Tweets" "Additionally, he conjures up too much controversy." crap, don't be wimping Establishment Republican.
America, right now, needs someone who is as hard-charging as Patton and tirelessly fighting for Americans and their Rights. Americans need the best Leader possible, someone willing to take all attacks and keeps charging ahead. That someone is Trump.
While DeSantis is good, he still needs some seasoning because I doubt he will be able to stand the withering attacks he will face in the future without some more experience.
Add in the fact that a lot of money right now is flowing into the coffers of DeSantis from Hedge-Fund Billionaires/Millionaires. A group never known to be MAGA.
In my mind, this raises question marks.

Exactly. In fact they already are.

Exactly, which means Trump's numbers are much higher.

Exactly. Assistant Democrats want to get along with the Democrats.

Rigged poll. It doesn’t take into account people who are indifferent to Trump like me.

All that has to be done to totally screw every single pollster and put polls in the dustbin of history is to find out that the NSA, FBI, CIA, Secret Service, etc... are listening in on poll calls. It will all dry up after that.
