The late-blooming 2022 Atlantic Tropical Storm season is making up for lost time. A tropical system has developed in the Central Caribbean Sea. This storm system is forecast to threaten continental U.S. interests next week. While the tropical wave passed south of a key geographic area known as Hebert's Box #1, it will very likely pass through Hebert's Box #2. These boxes are useful as predictors of hurricanes that will strike South Florida. For more information about Hebert's Boxes, see Hebert Box. See graphic below which illustrated the Hebert's Boxes.

Saw that, thank you.
His house is brick. Any damage is usually trees, fences and the pool enclosure. Hopefully this time will be no different. He’s lived in Ohio and hated the snow, even as a kid.
but, but, ...climate change!
Dan has long red hair but I don’t know about a flag. But he does have a Harley.. :-)
I was watching some live streams last night from Key West. Didn’t spend too much time, but when I was watching it just appeared to be a lot of wind and some heavy rain squalls. Didn’t see much severe damage

Are you roughly in Bradenton still or did you go further inland?
Thank You!
Wow. Just wow. I moved to ft Myers FL a year and a half ago due to my husbands health and a desire to finally enjoy retirement years. Now we may lose everything. Everything. A friend of mine in her nineties refused to evac. A poor decision to be certain. Thank God above so far she is in one piece. I can’t get the loss of human and animal life out of my head. Everything else is expendable. I care deeply about this historic hurricane and the damage it is wrecking in lives.
Almost a CAT 5...
9 mph tracking speed. The duration in time spent on land is going to be determinant to the amount of damage incurred, in conjunction (obviously) with the storm surge component.
<> Category 4 is the second-highest hurricane classification category on the Saffir–Simpson Hurricane Scale, and storms that are of this intensity maintain maximum sustained winds of 113–136 knots (130–156 mph, 209–251 km/h). <>
Not too bad, knocked his feet from under him.
That site isn’t working for me when i type an address. There are no indications of any power outages and I’ve been without power since 9am
I have relatives in Venice. A few of their neighbors have reported damage to their pool enclosures but so far no major damage to any of the houses in their area, which are all relatively new construction in the last 5 to 8 years or so.
Ping to post 1723.
Mesonet 1844 UTC, Ft. Myer Beach surge at first floor rooftops, per multi social media reports. Call that 15 feet plus ground elevation above sea level. 20 feet minimum, IMO.
God bless to you. Are you in FL? Believe we will be extremely lucky if we have anything left in Ft Myers when this clears. Hope you fare well. Keep me posted too!
Meanwhile, this is from yesterday...

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (Sept. 27, 2022) – The Charlotte County Utilities Department urges low pressure sewer customers to limit water usage during a power outage. In the event of a power loss, low pressure sewer pumps will not function. The home’s wastewater will remain onsite within the interceptor tank and cannot enter the central sewer system. The onsite tank has a reserve capacity that will allow for limited water use during the outage.
Glad to still be connected too. The marvels of modern technology and battery backups.
Any info on what direction and speed Ian is tracking at? Most of the websites aren’t loading showing the updates, and we’re getting pounded in sarasota…. Worse than earlier. Is it heading due north
