Millennials and Gen Z want to stop a climate catastrophe. But first they have to get elected.

… After decades of failure, Democrats finally managed to do something to address the biggest challenge facing the planet. In August, President Joe Biden signed into law a bill that contained significant environmental provisions, including incentivizing clean energy and reducing carbon emissions.

But the bill — dubbed the Inflation Reduction Act — proved to be a compromise package that failed to even acknowledge the climate crisis in its name.

With Democrats bracing to lose their razor-thin majority in the House and a challenging 2024 election-season looming, the party will need to energize younger voters and empower a new generation of leaders to build on its partial climate wins — all while many aged leaders simply refuse to yield.

Climate change is a uniquely generational issue.

There's a clear age divide — particularly among Republicans — when it comes to addressing it. Millennials and Gen Zers across the political spectrum are more likely than their parents and grandparents to support climate action. They're better educated on the issues, and they're more open to structural change. They also have much more at stake — older people will likely be dead before planet Earth experiences the most severe impacts.

Age — particularly among conservatives — is a key divider in Americans' views on climate policy.

Almost half – 47% – of Republicans and Republican-leaning people between the ages of 18 and 29 think the federal government is doing too little to reduce the effects of climate change, but fewer than one in five Americans aged 65 and older said the same, according to a Pew Research Center poll from May. There's a similarly wide gap on many climate-related issues, from whether energy companies should transition to more renewables to whether stricter environmental laws are worth the cost.

This is why homeschooling is important.

Some will wake up, many will not. The universities are full of leftwing relics from the 1970s, who haven’t learned a thing in fifty years. Now, the NEA has fulfilled their assigned mission in support of the revolution: they have created a generation of imbeciles.

The left think they can change Mother Nature. We can’t even predict tomorrow’s weather 100%.

I’m not old moron and they weren’t talking about the demographic you are referring to.

Oh yeah nobody ever talks to people under 35. We live in the villages in FL and play bingo. Plenty of these under 35 year olds are teaching our kids that there are 57 genders and calling each other they/them.

And the boomers were a bunch of druggies who never grew up they all became neocons after Reagan left and stuck around to screw Trump.

Sure not all of them, but the trash that gravitates toward government jobs are who they are talking about.

If they (Millenials) cared about the future they wouldn’t welcome 30 trillion of debt that they will have to pay off when old folks are long gone.

They're better educated on the issues

Liar. Those children are brainwashed (by a demonic public school system perpetuated by equally demonic teachers) into believing men can be women, capitalism is evil, and that humans can control the weather. The left loves them because they parrot the liberal agenda.

Call me when they win. Maybe we will see this great win in November . I hope so. And if we do not, will it prove that what you say is true? Or will it prove the young people voted for the opposite of more conservative views? Or will it prove that the young people didn’t really vote as much as we would like? Are they all talk and no action? Did illegals do the voting for them? Are the illegals all leftists or are they budding conservatives? Did the left cheat again?

Based on the economy and the nightmare the leftists have made of the US, I would logically think that people would vote against this. I no longer fool myself into believing people will vote in their best interests. They have been brainwashed into thinking we have to all be collective think. The covid 19 scam proved how easy it is to manipulate the masses.

There are too many factors blended to predict the future. But I resent the “cute” remark you made.

I am aware of the differences in generation. I am a boomer. I was never a drugged out hippie. I do not judge people by their generation. I judge them future based on the trend I see happening now. It isn’t good.

There is no man-made climate change. It is a hoax by globalists to milk us of every dime and privilege. When someone mentions climate change as an issue, laugh at them and admonish them to not be so ridiculous.

Moronials and Genreation zzzzzzz, are better educated eh? Guess their gender studies degree out ranks my background in engineering, and heat transfer, and chemistry, and thermodynamics, with a background in advanced mathematics and applied theory along with calculus, statistics, finite element analysis and decades designing large systems built to optimize such things. Not to mention decades long personal interest in the subject of climate in particular while reading thousands of papers, and journals on the subject that are directly or indirectly related to climate. It is amazing sometimes how certain topics just quietly exist in the ether if they dispassionately describe phenomena rather than scream at volume 11 the predetermined government narrative. But, I am a crusty old Gen Xer, and not handicapped by the fad of Presentism.

Thanks for your replies.

Some facts always help:

What's REALLY interesting is the political age-based trends for Rep/Rep leaners is "normal" (i.e. in line with the Churchill-ascribed generalization) while the Dem/Dem leaners is the OPPOSITE. That is, kool-aid is more pervasive as leftists age. Parenthetically, if confidence intervals were drawn around the percentages the Dem values may be equal, while this isn't the case with the Rep GenX and Boomer values vs the younger Rep groups.

Nonetheless, the GenZers and Millenial Rep/Rep leaners are WAY less worried about the environment than their Dem peers AND older Dems. I also suspect, knowing Pew pretty well, that if we saw further segmentation in the younger Rep polling we'd see that it's the more Deplorable youths that haven't been sucked in while more centrists Reps are more apt to sip kool-aid.

Despite this data and reality, more often than not on FR, people read this MSM "youngsters are liberals" propaganda and throw around collaborative syntax like "brainwashed" or "This is when we actually reach the “Idiocracy” point." It happens.

We often bash the left and their stereotyping of normal Americans. Reichskanzler Bidet sensationalized recently that half of the nation is seditious. We are demonized, ridiculed, and sometimes swatted. It's par for their course when the facts aren't on their side. It's what the left does...

...and maybe, sometimes, people on the right.

Your mileage may vary.

Typical leftist strategery. Invent a problem then tell voters the only way to fix the problem is to elect them.

The "climate catastrophe" is a hoax. The honest label is climate communism. The intent is to destroy capitalism using the "climate issue" to promote communism. Taking aim at CO2 has nothing to do with "global warming". It is selected explicitly to target the carbon based energy that drives the capitalist economy. The term "decarbonize" is really a euphemism for "deindustrialize, depopulate". That is the real goal. Eliminate the "useless eaters". Leave just enough for subsistence farming to keep the chosen "elite" alive in comfort while the serfs farm just enough to scrape by.

Nonsense: they know no (human caused) catastrophe is likely. It’s all about the money. To fill their pockets.

If every nation on Earth confiscated every penny beyond bare subsistence from everyone on the planet and spent it all on climate, they could not affect the global temperature by one degree or the sea levels by an inch.
