Russians in revolt: More than 1,000 arrests are made while anti-war protestors are dragged away by officers in black-tinted helmets after taking to the streets in 37 cities following Putin's decision to mobilise the country due to heavy losses in Ukraine

Police wearing blacked-out helmets are dragging anti-mobilisation protestors off the streets of Russia tonight, as thousands come out to demonstrate against being sent to the front lines in Ukraine.

More than 1,000 people have been arrested tonight in 37 cities across Russia, including Moscow and St Petersburg, as they voiced their anger at President Vladimir Putin's order to mobilise 300,000 reservists.

There have been angry clashes between activists and security forces, with protestors being forcefully taken to the ground and removed from the streets as the government cracks down on vocal dissent.

Demonstrators tonight chanted anti-war slogans, with some calling for Putin himself to go to the trenches in Ukraine, while other's have angrily proclaimed they're not willing to die for him.

It is reported a total of 828 arrests have been made so far, with this number likely to rise throughout the night as the government cracks down on vocal dissent.

In the capital Moscow 303 people have been arrested, while the former imperial capital of St Petersburg saw 279 taken into custody, and 40 more have been arrested in Yekaterinburg, a city east of the Ural Mountains.

As protests spread, many men of fighting age opted to try and leave the country, driven by fears the border might soon be closed, with tickets for one-way flights out of Moscow being snapped up by worried Russians.

The decision to mobilise the country is the first of its type in the country since the Second World War, and has come as Russian forces sustain humiliating losses to advancing Ukrainian troops in the east of the country.

The first protests against the partial mobilisation took place in Siberia, with demonstrators risking being jailed under draconian laws forbidding criticism of the armed forces.

Will point out to you wackos that all casualty counts cannot even be done from satellite recon, for the obvious reason that bodies can be moved. Not to mention multi spectral sensors still have to deal with clouds.

The Russian estimates of Ukraine dead are almost certainly from artillery models, augmented by the occasional recon image that happened to be captured immediately after a strike.

Ukraine satellite recon has to come from the US, and coordination of spacecraft pass times with artillery strikes is much more cumbersome, because it goes through another country. So Ukraine’s estimates are from . . . likely imagination. They don’t have a historical database for artillery modeling.

Their generals did go to the same universities as the Russian generals, but those casualty models are much more recent than the 25 or so years since time at the Russian MTIs near Moscow.

Bottom line, Russia is using modeling. Which may be incorrect, but it’s a better reasoned method than imagination from Ukraine.

Ukraine is not drafting women. That’s Russian propaganda.

It’s only registration and only for particular lines of work not including direct combat.

Your favorite former “dating coach” turned Russian propagandist Gonzalo Lira is walking free in Ukraine while in Russia people get arrested for standing and holding blank sheets of paper.

Fleeing to Canada to escape conscription must have lost some of its luster with the marxist dictator trudeau in charge.

I think the Russian numbers of the Ukrainian losses in equipment come from the objective control, in manpower from the intelligence sources with access to the Ukrainian records.

Little wonder Jesus Christ was crucified because those forces aligned against him were too busy attacking him for being the vessel of that message.

Yeah, disprove anything the man has said concerning Ukraine, anything.

#19. The Putinists and Russian shills are losing so badly in arguing for the invasion their only defense is to deny reality. During the Iraq War, Muhammad Saeed al-Sahhaf was a joke. He didn't take himself seriously either, he was doing his job. Now conservatives are copying him? It is disappointing to see the conservatives treat each other this way.

They were indeed brave to demonstrate any kind of opposition. Here one can protest all day long at Fort Benning’s front gate and not get arrested. For protestors who WANT to be arrested (for gaining Leftist street creed), they can cross into Fort Henning, get booked, and released within two hours. Moscow protestors face severe punishments as in Hong Kong where saying the phrase “Restore Hong Kong” can get one a multi-year sentence.
