I have a feeling that you are right on the money. If it wouldn’t be for the US the war would be over by now as some of these war mongering idiots in our regime try to keep this war going come hell and high water. On the other hand, if the Ukrainians had any sense they would stick with Russia, along with an assurance of a certain amount of independence. It may not be the greatest being aligned with Russia but there are worse things than that. At least people would be still alive and have roof over their heads. Neither would I want to rely on US promises, as other countries have found out the hard way.
