The race to flee Russia: One-way flights out of the country sell out as terrified civilians dreading military call-up try to escape after Putin announced troop mobilisation and threatened to use NUKES - prompting even China to call for a ceasefire

Terrified Russians are scrambling to flee the country today with one-way flights out of Moscow sold out after Vladimir Putin sparked mass panic by ordering a troop mobilisation in a dramatic escalation of the Ukraine war.

Tickets to Johannesburg for a family of three were earlier fetching £44,000, while the cheapest flights from the capital to Dubai were costing more than £4,500 - about five times the average monthly wage, amid the desperate race to escape the potential conscription.

In a nationwide speech, Putin ordered the call-up of 300,000 military reserves - a first in Russia since the Second World War - and issued a chilling new threat to use nuclear weapons against the West, telling world leaders to back off Ukraine while warning: 'I'm not bluffing'.

The apocalyptic warnings have prompted even China to demand a ceasefire 'through dialogue and consultation', while Turkey's Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Putin should return all occupied land, including Crimea, to its 'rightful owners'.

According to Russian investigative news outlet RBK, all plane tickets to countries where Russians would not need a visa, including Turkey, Armenia and Georgia, have now sold out, while flagship airline Aeroflot is not displaying any available flights.

Bus tickets were also sold out, and searches for 'how to leave Russia' also topped Google traffic at the time Putin's speech was originally scheduled, data shows.

-snip-

Meanwhile a mixture of fear, anger, and dissent was spreading across Russian social media networks.

Users even coined a new word - 'Mogilisation' from the Russian word 'mogila' or 'grave' - to describe the expected fate of those taken away to fight.

Lilianna D demanded: 'I recommend mobilising the entire Duma [parliament] and their families first of all. And let people see how loyal they are.'

What China said: "Every country’s reasonable security concerns should be valued, and all efforts conducive to resolving the crisis peacefully should be supported. China calls for dialogue and consultation to resolve the divergences..."

What Western Media says what China said: "Russia must start negotiating."

What China meant: "We don't give a f*ck."

Won’t anyone in Russia eliminate this scourge???

I don't think the Daily Mail publishes in Russia.

Two weeks into this invasion I remember reading about an imminent negotiated settlement. Then it vanished down the memory hole as the neocons entered the scene and the arms starting flowing to Ukraine. The 99-year old Henry Kissinger suggested later on at Davos that a negotiated settlement could easily be achieved, and the globalists basically snickered at the poor old man.

The NWO globalists might end up getting a total nuclear war for their efforts to reset us. The only problem is there won’t be anything left to reset, and the living will very much envy the dead. This road they’re taking is insane.

Vlad Putin says: “Lets nuke the place from orbit, its the only way to be sure.”

China says: “Uhhh, Vlad, maybe its time to dial this thing in a bit.”

It will be easier to get rid of Putin than to get out of Russia.

Probably what most mothers think about their kids being sent to yet one more useless war.

That they will get a new Lada if their son is killed?

American mothers too

I didn't know that the US government gave cars to Gold Star Parents. Is that a new policy? What kind of car do you get?

Why wouldn’t Putin use nukes?

Because the Ukrainians might end up having some tactical nukes too. And then Putin would have to explain to his citizens what happened to Belgorod or Sevastopol.

an imminent negotiated settlement.

That opportunity went away when Putin's troops decided raping and murdering civilians in Bucha and Irpin was a good idea.

Once the massacres were discovered there was no room for a simple negotiation.

At this point after Russia had kidnapped thousands of Ukrainians and their children, and killed and abused many civilians it will be hard to negotiate any end to the fighting.

Or perhaps Germans coming to the U.S. in the 1870s.

A lot of those "Germans" were actually Poles.

Top five cars sold in Russia last year

About half were Lada which do suck as I recall renting them in Jamaica in the 80s though I liked the Neva jeep

The other half are Kia and Hyundai

Reminds me of the Dopester Hippies fleeing the US to Canada during the Vietnam War.

That's what people who don't want get drafted into ego-tripping mafioso's poorly supplied ragtag army remind you of? To "defend" a neighbor-invading country with weak gun rights that leads the world in abortions.

The Lada is now built by Renault

A slight improvement

Their twin turbo rally cars were badass though admittedly and their F1 is competitive and used to be the most popular engine in the sport
