Germany Military Must Become Europe's 'Best Equipped': Scholz

ermany is ready to take a leading role in ensuring Europe's security, Chancellor Olaf Scholz said Friday, vowing to transform the country's military into the "best equipped" on the continent.

Branding Vladimir Putin's Russia the "biggest threat" to NATO, Scholz said Europe had to be prepared to face up to the challenge.

"We are making it convincingly clear: Germany is ready to take on leading responsibility for the security of our continent," he told an army congress.

"As the most populous country with the greatest economic power and as a country in the middle of the continent, our army must become the cornerstone of conventional defence in Europe, the best equipped force in Europe."

Haunted by two world wars, Germany has always trod lightly and quietly on the world stage when it came to conflicts and military matters.

Scholz said the German army had for too long taken on roles such as "drilling wells, ensuring humanitarian help, stemming floods, also helping with vaccinations during the pandemic".

Absolutely yes. Anti-German sentiment is the only racism nowadays for thich the racist can be unafraid of the politically correct whip :-)
But woe, woe, woe betide you if you say anything against persons of Latin American, African or Asian heritage.

Very strange that an Irishman would join in the fray, but maybe he’s been having a pint of the good Guinness too much :-D

Shhhh...dont confuse the gentleman from Treasure Island with facts.

My theory on him is: his hatred of Germans, which he regrettably shares with some Freepers, is everything he has left now, after so many Australian forums have considered him insufferable enough to ask him to leave. Saddening.

Kohl wrote about it in his memoirs, and he took it very seriously - especially as a Francophile, which he was to a good degree.

Isn’t it illegal to say that in Germany?

All these stories of Putin’s corruption and mismanagement are based on fact that he ended the Yeltsin-era oligarchy where seven bankers were running the country with their assets registered and taxed in the UK and the Russians were getting a grift.

I guess this war was provoked specifically to start these propaganda campaign of ‘crazy Putin came against the whole World and losing!’ to have a regime change and take control over Russian resources.

It failed to work and the idiots didn’t have the plan B.

Also pipelines work...that’s why Biden canceled the big pipeline from Canada on his first day...and on his second day canceled all franking on continental us....and on 3rd day canceled the Alaskan pipeline...and on the 4th day canceled franking and oil well contracts on offshore regions....in doing us become energy dependent...and just for good measure canceled use of gas in New building.....Green paradise here we come.

German net contribution to the EU is ~0.4% of their GDP. You grotesquely overstate the importance of that small burden. In return Germany gets much more out of the membership than that tiny amount.

No one is forcing any nation to stay in the EU (which, like NATO, is an appendage of the American Globohomo Empire).

Kudos to Britain for being smart enough to leave.

I hope all nations follow.

“Only about 3 decades from now Germany may have the largest muslim population in Europe, with around 20% of people in Germany connected in someway to islam. “

Perhaps this is the reason for growing their military right now. Russia, as is so often the case, is just a convenient reason. Many Germans are starting to wake up to the destruction wrought by Merkel.

Putin actually did rather well, early on. He was behind, or did not impede at least, the recovery of Russian agriculture. This was quite an achievement. And so on in many other things.

However, his positive contributions ended around 2008 and a new tribe of oligarchs grew under him, and vast amounts of national wealth were again siphoned out of the country instead of being invested domestically.

He seemed to become bored of doing well for his people and started throwing his weight around in the near abroad, just for glory I suppose. Being the king went to his head.

Those are oil pipelines.

Gas pipelines are quite another story.

They are going to somehow rebuild their military using home industry, since their metal working factories are shutting down due to lack of Russian N. Gas.

Not true. The problem is the Roman approach to foreign policy by the US establishment. I think around 2004 someone in Washington mentioned that Russia has failed to fall apart and then it has all started. The crooked commie tard Browder started the “Putin the thief” campaign on belaft of the CYA to hinder investments, and then in 2008 NATO started a Georgian war - that was a point where the sanction war started. The attempts at regime change in Russia started around 2010, but the approach was ham fisted plus particularly uncharismatic puppets were picked for opposition.
I disagree on the economic reforms completely. Even though there is not a lot to show in terms of the economic growth since 2008 in natural figures due to known demultiplicators, systemically the Russian economy is stronger than ever. In terms of ease of business it is way ahead of half of the US cities and definitely better compared to 2008.

German arrogance and islamism. Look out

Hitler and the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al-Husseini. Can you say Nazis and Muslims have much in common.

From your lips to God’s ear :-)

The EU made sense one time, with the background of the Cold War and the hunger years in the forties, when food production was as much of critical importance as the markets for it.

But, if you ask me, the EU has overstayed its welcome by now.
