One of the stunning facts of the age is the continued prominence of Donald Trump. His candidates did well in the GOP primaries this year. He won more votes in 2020 than he did in 2016. His favorability ratings within his party have been high and basically unchanged since late 2016. In a range of polls, some have actually shown Trump leading President Joe Biden in a race for reelection in 2024.
His prominence is astounding because over the past seven years the American establishment has spent enormous amounts of energy trying to discredit him. Those of us in this establishment correctly identified Trump as a grave threat to American democracy. The task before us was clear. We were never going to shake the hard-core MAGA folks. The job was to peel away independents and those Republicans offended by and exhausted by his antics.
Many strategies were deployed in order to discredit Trump. There was the immorality strategy: Thousands of articles were written detailing his lies and peccadilloes. There was the impeachment strategy: Investigations were launched into his various scandals and outrages. There was the exposure strategy: Scores of books were written exposing how shambolic and ineffective the Trump White House really was.

We are attracted to candidates that fight, they continue to attack and give him the opportunity to fight....hence he is super electable.

Here’s an idea. Attack Trump on the issues, offer better proposals and try to sell them to the body politic. Maybe that will work.

The reversal of Roe v Wade and the Bruen decision (that the Second Amendment means what it says) are incredible accomplishments for which Donald Trump is due most of the credit.
Conservatives now have some flexibility to identify other important issues. I wouldn’t care if it had been Donald DUCK who beat the progressives on these issues. It is only about the issues. I don’t want to date Trump or AOC. I just want to do my part to Make America Great Again.

It is true, History repeats itself. Churchill was so despised that he was driven from politics and couldn’t even live in London until WWII, when he was seen as the only one who could step in and do things correctly.
Trump, the toast of NYC, was an outcast after outing himself as a conservative. He left NYC and DC but he will be back as we need him again.
Boo hoo Brooks. I want Trump reelected for one reason: revenge. I want heads to roll. Obama, Clinton, Biden, pecker puss Pelosi, Schumer, all of them. They’re all dirty commie traitors. I want to see them suffer like Trump has. I hope he has a good DOJ team ready to go in 2025.
A piss÷ant like David Brooks will never understand a real man like Donald Trump. Almost anybody else would have caved in under the pressure of the constant lies thrown at president Trump. But president Trump stands up to the liars and fights back. He’s taking on the corrupt establishment for us and this country.
