An attorney who specializes in immigration law says what happened to the 50 people brought to Martha’s Vineyard may be considered kidnapping.
Rachel Self, an Island attorney, issued a statement saying that she is looking at potential legal avenues after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis took credit for sending the 50 people to Martha’s Vineyard on two planes.
“The response to this crisis among the legal and humanitarian communities, and the Martha’s Vineyard community at large, has been nothing short of incredible,” Self wrote. “The people who arrived last night are not alone, and we will make sure they know it – this is what our community is all about. We welcome them, and we are deeply grateful for the opportunity to help them in any way we can.”
Self said she will pursue all legal remedies. “We believe they are victims of kidnapping, and the perpetrators of this breathtakingly cruel political stunt should know that it may well result in every individual who was induced onto those planes by fraud becoming eligible for a U visa. A U visa is a nonimmigrant visa granted to victims who cooperate with law enforcement, prosecutors, or other authorities in the investigation of a crime, and in the First Circuit (the Federal jurisdiction which includes Massachusetts), people with pending U visas are protected from deportation,” Self wrote. “We call on federal, state, and local authorities to collect and preserve evidence, beginning with the tail numbers of the aircraft used in the commission of this offense. Using human beings – families and children – as political pawns says far more about Governor DeSantis’s callousness and disregard for human life than it does about the people of Martha’s Vineyard.

They’re illegal to begin.
Please notice the current strategy of the left. Accuse Republican opponents of Federal or local crimes that could result in prison. With Trump it could be ‘obstruction’, mishandling of classified materials, espionage, treason, etc. etc. And now with DeSantis and Abbot with the kidnapping of illegal immigrants when they are sent to the Vineyard, DC, Chicago etc. etc.
If you oppose the current administration, you are a criminal.
Am I to understand a sanctuary city doesn’t want illegals ?
Oh my God! Biden is kidnapping poor illegals now!!
First he illegally opens the borders after taking an oath that binds him by law to secure them and now he kidnaps them! OMG!
;)
Wait, what?!? Can I get kidnapped to a vaca spot?
Laughable, except the same people at the Gestapo who go after Trump every 10 minutes are still there.
What kind of fame feather would you get for Desantis?
It’s coming. And I, for one, will not stand for it.
We in FL need to form a Desantis Protection Militia. 10,000 of us should do it.
OBAMA showed him how.....
Ted Bundy & Charles Manson made names for themselves, also.
A governor executing the sovereign power of a state is not a vigilante. Vigilantes are private citizens attempting to execute powers normally reserved to the sovereign, usually because of the breakdown of civil authority and the lack of a local agent with sovereign authority.
Next load to be dropped off in Martha’s Vineyard should be provided with crow bars and other burglary tools.
Would the lawyer prefer firing squads after all they are invading this country & bringing a lethal chemical weapon with them is fentanyl!
Kidnap them back bitch.
LOL.
Standing, tort/crime, sovereign immunity, venue?
LOL.
