‘Learning about the number of dead [estimated to be up to 43,000], Russian troops are refusing to fight on the territory of Ukraine, payments to the wounded occupiers have been halted,’ said Serhiy Haidai, the governor of Luhansk.

‘The military command of the Russian Federation suspended the dispatch of new, already formed units to the territory of Ukraine,’ he added .

His claims were backed up by The Institute of War. The US think-tank said Kyiv’s gains in the north-east Kharkiv region ‘may be impacting the will or ability of the Russian military command to use newly formed volunteer units in Ukraine in a timely fashion’.

US intelligence officials told the Washington Post they expect to see further humiliating retreats made by Moscow’s armed forces.

‘The Russians are in trouble,’ one source said. ‘Their weaknesses have been exposed and they don’t have great manpower reserves or equipment reserves.’ Another senior Western official said it was ‘too early to say’ whether the gains made by Ukraine amounted to ‘a turning point’ in the six-month war.

‘But it’s a moment that has power in terms of both operations and psychology,’ the official said. ‘It’s exactly what the Ukrainians need right now. They need that success, and they need that winning narrative. I would describe it as scoring a goal before half-time.’

Last night president Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine was in full control of more than 1,500 square miles of recaptured territory and is stabilising a further area of the same size. On Monday, he had said Ukraine had retaken more than 2,000 square miles in its recent counter-offensive.

Ukrainian officials, though, said it was important to make a distinction between taking territory and ensuring it was totally safe.

Kyiv said the army yesterday took control of Vovchansk – a town just two miles from the border and which had been under occupation since February.

Across Kharkiv, Ukrainian soldiers marked their victories by burning Russian flags. They inspected the remains of abandoned and charred enemy tanks while brothers-in-arms helped the wounded join the celebrations.

In London, the Ministry of Defence, in its daily briefing, said that the rout by the Ukrainian armed forces had ‘severely degraded’ one of Russia’s most prestigious tank units. The First Guards Tank Army could take years to rebuild, officials said. The unit ‘had been one of the most prestigious of Russia’s armies, allocated for the defence of Moscow, and intended to lead counter-attacks in the case of a war with Nato’, the MoD added.

No sane young Russian man will allow himself to be sent to die for Putin’s idiotic war. Old degenerates in the Kremlin sending young men off to die for no good reason.

Putin dies by March or is deposed. Even if a hard liner comes in to replace Putin, he will dump Putin’s useless war.

They won back 2000 sq miles out of the 120,000 sq mi Russia already won. That’s just over 1.5%. Get a grip.

Young Russian men are wising up, and refusing to die for Putin’s masturbatory Tsarist fantasies.

“Where are the UN Peacekeepers?”

They don’t show up until the war is over, if then.

Maybe Biden can get his mercenaries to switch to the Russian side. They don’t want Ukraine to win. They want them to wash their money.

Oh my! Is this CNN? I am surprised that a Freeper could make statements that are mainstream media talking points. Do you mind sharing where you get your information on this “war”?

This is the Daily Mail, however this fits into what has come out over the last few months, and helps explain how Ukraine succeed, by the Russian army's failures.

Russian soldiers were lied to about going to Ukraine. They use contract soldiers, and under Russian law if they want to get out of Ukraine to go back to Russia, they have to write a letter to their CO about it. The Russian "stop loss" program is to ignore Russian law and not act on any of the letters. The soldiers not trying to get out, can take a guess at what's going on with those who are. I can't confirm the number, but its supposedly sizable, maybe 30-40%.

Then there is the leadership, HIMARs attacks for two months, and the emphasis on Battalion sized units for organization making command and logistics harder. Prior to the Kherson action, Russia relocated force to Izyum and Kherson. The forces in Kharkiv are large the Donbas and Luhansk militias, second rate Russian proxy forces, and Wagner group mercenaries who are not allowed to engage in offensive operations by law or they don't get paid (supposedly), and want to live to get paid more than die Putin's ambitions.

After HIMARs started fighting in July, Russian advances slowed to a halt. What they gained in Donbas, Ukraine could afford to lose. What HIMARs was destroying was gradually wearing away at the Russian ability to wage war.

A week into the Kherson counter offensive, the Kharkiv conter offenses starts. Two days later Ukrainian forces are rasing flags 30 miles behind Russian lies. 10 to 20 thousand are back up to a river with the Ukrainian army everywhere else. 20,000 are stuck in Kherson because HIMARS took out bridges and where there aren't bridges there's the Ukrainian army. 30,000 to 40,000 Russian forces are backed up aganist a wall, imobilized, with command and control that is

In three months time, Ukraine found a way to get inside the Russia OODA look like no one has since World War II.

The only wonder is why people believe it is impossible for the Russian army to be routed like this, a week after the fact.

Early stories said a lot were drafted and family falsely told Russia is being brutally attacked by evil Ukrainians who will soon be conquered. A lot of draftees don’t like fighting to probable death as “young men fighting in a war for the old men who sent them.”

Putin will be dead by October—I predict he will shoot himself in the head. Mass Russian Troops surrender Next Week! Russians will shoot their officers and give up. The US needs to have tents and blankets to house all the Russians who are giving up. UN Blue helmets mobilized to oversee the camps. Maybe we should fly the Russians to the USA to become productive Citizens into safe cities like New York and Chicago? Russia is gone as a great power! Let us savor this moment—its like the Berlin Wall falling down. NATO Wonder Weapons saved Ukraine. Kelenskyy should be named President-for-life in Ukraine. Biden should send Hunter as ambassador to “Greater Ukraine”. The world will thank Ukraine for stopping the Russian barbarians. Germany should send Billions to their betters in Ukraine (they beat the Russians unlike Germany) This is a bold new day for Europe—the East will dominates NATO!
