Enlisted airmen who work in some of the Air Force's most difficult jobs will receive from $900 to $5,400 less annually beginning next month as the service faces financial challenges that affect the ranks.
Hundreds of service members will see cuts to their Special Duty Assignment Pay, known as SDAP, in fiscal 2023 -- which starts Oct. 1. Those monthly payments, ranging from $75 to $450, were an extra incentive "to compensate enlisted service members who serve in duties which are extremely difficult," according to budget documents.

To avoid the cuts, lawmakers would have to reinstate the Special Duty Assignment Pay difference in the 2023 budget proposal before it's approved by Congress...

Air Force Recruiters are set to lose their $75 in special duty pay each month for fiscal 2023, which would add up to nearly $900 a year in lost wages.

"Airmen?! AIRMEN?! Like sumptin' outta the FUNNY PAPERS! Do you wanna be called that?!"
- The unforgettable Nick Adams to Andy Griffith in "No Time for Sergeants."
Regards,
Plumbers are noted for being especially wirey. They are chosen in part on the basis of their physical dexterity and flexibility. They can thus manage to creep into the tightest spaces. Nothing will stop them in their mission to find that leak and seal that flange!
Regards,
Is that one in the PHS at least "cute?"
Regards,
I’ll take a spare F-15 if you’ve got one.
Let’s go with the old SAC paint theme.
Make it an E model. Guess I’ll need a backseater, too.
Oh, and the latest AIM-120’s.
Oh, and fuel.
Oh, and a maintenance crew.
And an airbase.
If you could get right on that, that would be great.
:)
Well, the money for all the student loans payments has to come from somewhere.
Not really. Nobody has said yet how it is being paid. The administration just has to blow smoke until the midterms, and then be informed that it needs Congressional authorization. Somebody can introduce legislation which fails. The elections would be over, Biden can take credit for trying, and the GOP can be blamed for the failure. Anyone selling their vote for it would find they were scammed again.
There is a good chance itβs a EX , and not the E. π€
Yeah seems like they were updating them
OK that will be just fine
Better get me 2. You know, a spare.
π
Don’t forget the conformal fuel tanks, BTW.
Oh and a centerline fuel tank, you know for those really long hauls.
I might want to fly to the Philippines for something to eat.
You can do that, but take a 777 instead. ππ€ͺ
OK OK.
I really wanted to fly on a 747 some day.
True story, mid 1990’s I was thinking of taking one to Paris.
Yikes.
The 747 used to fly from SFO to Manila, but either stopped in Hawaii or Guam. Now, the 777 flies the same route, with no stops. π€
I’m guessing TWA 800 probably came through the St. Louis hub.
I would see that flight almost every week I flew out of Lambert. I didn’t always go on TWA but there was always a Paris flight with a 747 across from where my plane often was.
Every time I looked over there a 747 was parked. And I could see it was a Paris flight. I probably didn’t see THAT flight as I was not traveling very much then but I may well have seen the plane.
As far as can tell there are no more 747s in regular passenger service.

Thanks. I had heard maybe, maybe somewhere in Europe.
Dang. Never got a ride.
Sorry to hear that.
I was fortunate to fly on them back and forth to Asia several times. Great aircraft.
I’ll bet it was awesome. Really loved the 707 and 727 aircraft.
Not too crazy about 737 100 and 200 series.
After the 300 with the bigger engines, cool. That being said, that vertical stabilizer hydraulic control ........
I had just flown to Connecticut for software training. That was the day USAIR 427 went down.
From what I’d heard, military testing revealed that there was a problem with the unit.
And no, I’ve never been on a 737 Max.
For me the ultimate passenger jet was the Lockheed L-1011.
I did ride on a DC-10 once. We were coming in from Los Angeles to Denver. I don’t know if we were eating somebody up or if they had to scrub altitude after clearing terrain, but they threw out the spoilers (or so it looked) and maybe cut the throttles. I was hanging in the seat belt like they’d stomped a brake in mid-air. LOL
I was seated at the window next to the port wing.
I am not surprised. I used to fly from SFO to Manila, back and forth on a 747. Later, they replaced the route, with the 777. It seemed to me, there is more leg room on the 777, and it was a non stop flight, where the 747 always made at least one stop.
I was a C-141 loadmaster. It looks like they’re cutting flight pay. That’s not going to make the troops happy.
....but let’s send $$$$$$$ to Ukraine. SMH
