How a Record Cash Haul Vanished for Senate Republicans
The New York Times ^ | Sun, September 4, 2022,

. t was early 2021, and Sen. Rick Scott wanted to go big. The new chair of the Senate Republican campaign arm had a mind to modernize the place.

.A year later, some of that braggadocio has vanished — along with most of the money. . By the end of July, the committee had collected a record $181.5 million — but had already spent more than 95% of what it had brought in. The Republican group entered August with just $23.2 million on hand, .

. Now top Republicans are beginning to ask: Where did all the money go?

.

One fundraising scheme used by the Senate committee, which has not previously been disclosed, involved sending an estimated millions of text messages that asked provocative questions — “Should Biden resign?” — followed by a request for cash: “Reply YES to donate.” Those who replied “YES” had their donation processed immediately, though the text did not reveal in advance where the money was going.

. Scott declined an interview request. . Scott’s please-all-sides decision to stay out of contested 2022 primaries... . the committee exists chiefly to help Republican Senate candidates, under Scott it has only occasionally leveraged its enlarged email list to fundraise directly for them. And when it does, the fine print indicates the NRSC keeps 90% of the proceeds. . Republicans, even inside the committee, are talking about a financial autopsy to examine whether there have been potential conflicts of interest.

. Prior to politics, Scott led a major for-profit hospital chain. He was forced out in the late 1990s, and the company went on to pay $1.7 billion in federal civil and criminal penalties for health care fraud. .

This is a small part of the article. This came in my Yahoo email, so the motive of the article is cloudy.

Bottom line as far as im concerned, is donate only directly to your candidates you support.

I foolishly donated to the Georgia runoff Senate elections to prevent the Democrats from taking the Senate.

I’ve never seen a more incompetent campaign strategy. How do you split the GOP ticket and force a runoff where Warnock never would have had a chance in the first place?

The GOP is suspect.

What happened? The geniuses in the Republican Party establishment spent all of it in the primaries, trying to defeat Trump-supported candidates, and now don’t have any money left to defeat Democrats.

They just didn’t want to allow the Republican voters to choose the candidate they wanted. They have graft and corruption to protect, and those things cost a lot of money.

Now they are likely going to lose some races they should have won, because they bashed the America First candidates in the primary and blew all their cash. It’s hard to be dumber than the Republican establishment.

Outside of business buying influence, what exactly would motivate a person to donate to this republican Senate.

Their strategy was to sit back, say nothing and cooperate on things like infrastructure, gun control while green lighting Biden nominees

This is not an opposition parties behavior in either House. I bet 75% of these folks would encourage a Romney run again. They haven’t a clue what animates the base. They deserve to fade away….

No firewall:

“As of that month, the committee disclosed spending just $23 million on ads, with more than $21 million going into text messages and more than $12 million to American Express credit card payments, whose ultimate purpose isn’t clear from the filings,” the report explained. “The committee also spent at least $13 million on consultants, $9 million on debt payments and more than $7.9 million renting mailing lists, campaign finance data show.”

Don’t they have a certain budget, budgeted money coming in, and then parcel out the money in key races, to get the bang for the buck???

And, why would they spend so much in primaries? Isn’t the point of primaries that your party’s voters make their selection, then, the party backs that nominee in the general election? Shouldn’t the bulk of money be spent in the general election anyway?

Obviously I don’t understand high finance, and how it was decided to go through tons of money before we even get to the general election campaign.

$12 million in American Express credit card payments? Well if nothing else Rick Scott is going to go home with a ton of frequent flier miles.

The first rule of money for any political organization: It grows on trees. These people have no concept of money because most have never had a real job.

After foolishly given money to Lyn' Ted (and still getting spam from him begging for donations), I have only since give money to President Donald Trump. If I give any money to anyone this year, it will be to specific candidates, not to parties or other groups. I think these groups are money-enriching schemes to line the pockets of their friends and associated companies. I'd feel differently if 99% of the money when to candidates, which is what it should--let the companies launder money among themselves, allow donations that would be direct passthrough to candidates. Until then, I'll stick to candidates directly.

Right now, sadly, not inclined to donate to any here in Nevada. Not impressed with their focus or efforts.

You might be right. They have no business spending a dime in the primaries. They should be neutral.

Sen. Rick Scott serves as the junior senator from the state of Florida.

Sen. Scott floated ludicrous allegations about the 2020 election results being untrustworthy.

.He compared the 2020 election to how elections are conducted in Venezuela, asking in one interview “how is this different than what Maduro‘s doing?”

.He also objected to certifying the 2020 election results in the absence of any evidence.

After Trump incited an attack on the Capitol on Jan. 6, Sen. Scott refused to hold him accountable during the impeachment trial, calling it a “complete waste of time.”

So it WAS a yahoo new York Times rino hit piece on Scott ?

I’ve never seen a more incompetent campaign strategy.

I suspect that most, if not ALL, of the GOP big wigs that call the shots in Georgia are crookeder than a snake's back and could care less about The State or The Country, but are only interested in lining their pockets.

My experience is that if you make the mistake of donating to the GOP you had better be prepared to be spammed daily by multiple people from across the Country demanding contributions, or they will label you as a dem or threaten to drown a litter of puppies.

Bingo, and the RINOs coordinated this with the Democrats.

This is what happens to people who challenge Mitch McConnell. He uses the media to smear his opponents.
