General Mark Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has yet to comment on the use — or abuse — of Marines in President Joe Biden’s speech Thursday attacking “MAGA Republicans,” after Milley complained about Trump’s march across Lafayette Square.
Biden delivered a diatribe against Donald Trump and the political opposition in general, standing in front of Independence Hall as it was bathed in red light, and flanked by Marines who had been deliberately positioned, the White House said, in staging the address.

Agreed, KG! I don’t have a TV so didn’t watch coverage, but in the subsequent still fotos they looked fake to me. At first I thought they were cardboard cutouts. (Remember Obama’s styrofoam columns?) Now I think they were actors playing a role. Which is worse: actual Marines playing a role or actors ditto?

The Commander in Chief is not a commissioned officer and the position does not designate a military rank.
The last ranked officer to serve as C-in-C was General of the Army Eisenhower, who refused insignia, uniform, rank, and salutes during his service because it's a civilian job.

When the C in C issues lawless orders, the military cannot obey them because of their oath and must say so publicly.

The establishments politician pretending to be chief of staff has selective outrage. When allegedly he and the military are used for a political event with one president of the conservative bent, why the good general is outraged but let the Marxist the avowed enemy of the USA use the military for their clearly political event and the self appointed moral arbiter of the military is quite content along with the establishment of both political parties. Excuses are offered by the establishment immediately to excuse their beloved general. No threats of resignation, no protests to the Marxist president. Just quiet excuses or approval.
Milley is your typical incompetent, political hack who was promoted far above his abilities and whose conduct along with Vindman qualify both for long stints in Leavenworth.
Milley is a disgrace to the uinform and to the army.
You are letting him off he hook. Remember McArthur? Milley had no problem treasonally calling the Chinese when he disagreed with Trump and also working against him. So your comment only holds for general officers that have character, ethics and honesty — none of which Milley has. Finally, my guess is that Milley approved the use of the Marines for this event despite prohibition of such use by the DOD.
