White House deputy press secretary Andrew Bates swiftly rejected their criticisms and fired back by using articles from their respective outlets against them.
"It's no more ‘political’ than this accurate and timely reporting from CNN," Bates told Zeleny before sharing CNN headlines like "Jake Tapper breaks down GOP threats to democracy" and "An Arizona Trump rally and voting rights march underscore the fight for democracy."
Bates lifted three Reuters headlines in response to Mason; "Reuters unmasks Trump supporters who terrified U.S. election officials," "Campaign of Fear: The Trump world’s assault on U.S. election workers" and "World shocked by Trump supporters' attack on U.S. democracy."

“There needs to be a firewall, rule, or code for the Marines not to be used as props for any political campaign event”
I thought there already was.
“Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. There is no defense. It is almost impossible to counterattack ridicule. “
I disagree. You counterattack by pointing out the falsehoods in the ridicule (assuming there are falsehoods).
Biden mentioned “Maga Republicans” or “MAGA” multiple times in the speech.
I can never understand the contradictions with the rhetoric. We have to “save democracy” and all that. Yet, Biden and the liberals are afraid that Trump and allied Republicans will win elections. Yet they say our elections are the underpinning of our “democracy”. What is more “democratic” that candidates winning elections?
The CIC decides what Marines do
Biden is CIC and chooses to belittle them
I was merely citing the ‘rules’.
Agreed, just as I cited lack thereof (counterattacks) in a prior comment elsewhere.
This ‘faux outrage’ by the MSM will be gone by Monday and, of course, the GOP will stand mute.
One might say it takes quite a pair to have the media as one’s whores, then complain about their loose morals. Or, more likely, the imbeciles who run this administration have struck again: they need to be careful because if the media decides to get off their knees and start telling the truth about this administration, they’re sunk. I’m not holding my breath that that will happen, but the administration is playing with fire with this tack
Agree with that 100%.
I have to say I don’t ever remember the Marine Corps band traveling to cover a president’s speech ANYWHERE. Is it common for them to leave DC where they’re based?
I was secretary of my high school senior year in 1954 and requested permission to attend a band rehearsal of the Marine Corps Band when we were on our senior trip to DC. While the rest of the class toured the Smithsonian, four of us went to the Marine Corps Barracks on I Street (?) to attend a band rehearsal. Fabulous - much more fun than a tour any day.
And certainly more fun for four 17 year old girls to ogle Marines all in one place! LOL
You missed the White House Press Secretary saying yesterday, before Biden's attack, that if you do not agree with them, then you are a threat to democracy.
You missed the White House Press Secretary saying yesterday, before Biden's attack, that if you do not agree with them, then you are a threat to democracy.
We’ll see.
Remember, only two major networks (CNN, MSNBC) opted to broadcast that travesty.
I loathe and detest the mainstream media, but it remains to be seen whether they have any standards at all.
Sounds like a winner....
Looked like a Hitler rally except for the 1000s in the crowd…their private brown shirt ss is coming for us…remember when bammy wanted a non military enforcement goon squad…
The media just parrots Dims claims, in the media’s own choice of titles and headlines, and then the Dims playback those same headlines as defense of their claims. It’s a Dims to the Media Media to the Dims disinformation circle.
Any “White House” that would produce that trash speech doesn’t deserve any respect. It was far worse than I thought it would be.
cymbeline: I disagree. You counterattack by pointing out the falsehoods in the ridicule (assuming there are falsehoods).
Does ridicule contain an element of humor? I think it's like the difference btwn sarcasm & irony. I used sarcasm in middle school: "Yeah, right"
FR is full of posters who are experts at hilarious irony!
I like cymbeline's answer, but I can't help but picture the fat antifa chicks getting in some poor diner's face, shouting & swearing...
The commie media enables & encourages that type of abuse (won't call it ridicule), but the media also ridicules conservatives eg: Anita Bryant, Dan Quayle - they've been doing it a long time!
"The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition."
"If you push a negative hard and deep enough it will break through into its counterside; this is based on the principle that every positive has its negative."
logi cal - this post made me think of something. Look at the use of "pressure" & "push"...
Pushing is compression. In physics, compression always exists at 90 degrees to tension. When you tension a rope, its diameter compresses (it thins) at 90 degrees to the axis of tension. Push down on an exercise ball, it bulges out (tension) at 90 degrees.
What I'm trying to get at with all this long-windedness is that the answer to mean ridicule (not humorous/more like mean-spirited middle school sarcasm), is to step aside (90 degrees, like a bull fighter side-steps the charging bull).
I look to FR for all the clever/humorous comebacks & memorize as many as I can. I have converted a few this way, but they were undecideds/neutral. There's no reasoning with others.
"The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative."
What does that mean? Can you give me an example? Thanks in advance!
