Troy University students this fall will have an opportunity to learn about moral and anti-woke business practices thanks to a free market center on campus.
“The Free Enterprise Scholars program seeks to educate undergraduates about the morals and values of good and ethical business,” Professor Alan Mendenhall told The College Fix.
The program will be hosted through the Manuel H. Johnson Center for Political Economy where Mendenhall is the executive director.
The business professor explained the problem with corporations pushing liberal policies:
When businesses advocate ‘woke’ policies and leftist social justice initiatives they seem to be responding to criticisms, real or imagined, that companies don’t contribute to society simply by producing goods and services, creating jobs, or improving the lives of their shareholders, investors, employees, and consumers.
Founded in 2010, the Johnson center’s mission is to teach undergraduate business major students about the moral uprightness of a free economy.
The program will include numerous activities and books to foster a free-market mindset amongst students. “Our program will teach a wide range of texts, from Jim Otteson’s Seven Deadly Economic Sins to Vivek Ramaswamy’s Woke, Inc.,” Professor Mendenhall (pictured) told The Fix. “Students will read and discuss books in an extracurricular reading group, listen to and meet with monthly speakers, and receive training on op-ed writing.”

It is the wee smalls were I live. This would be hours late if I didn’t have jet lag.
I understand Troy University is the largest in the world with campuses located in 17 states and 11 countries. Both my children attended Troy (in Troy).
Are any other universities doing this?
If Troy wants to do the right thing they need to stop their association with the Chinese Communist Party....
Established in 2007, the Confucius Institute at Troy University is a public institution affiliated with the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, funded and arranged in part by Hanban, which is itself affiliated with the Chinese government, and the stated aim of which is to promote the Chinese language and culture, support local Chinese teaching, and facilitate cultural exchanges.[10][11] The institute also offers summer camps for high school students, consultation for economic development, and promotion of Chinese outreach programs. Some have expressed concerns related to academic freedom and political influence of the Chinese government specially regarding such things as the comment of a former senior Chinese official, Li Changchun that Confucius Institutes are “an important part of China’s overseas propaganda set-up”.[12][13][14] Troy University was the first college in Alabama to open a Confucius Institute.
This is not in any way intended to diminish Troy's efforts to equip students with tools to counter corporate wokeness in their business careers. If only more colleges would engage in this culture war. Wokeness does not equal ethical nor fiducial responsibility.
Unfortunately, the pandemic and increasing diversity gave colleges the excuse to go more test optional. Automatic merit scholarships have been rapidly disappearing because some leftists say those are for the white privileged kids who can afford test prep. A decade ago, a 28 would get you a full ride somewhere. Those are gone for the most part. Most of the schools with automatic merit left are in the south or Midwest.

They used to be. Have heard that the tests are so dumbed-down now that they’re a joke.
Dumbing down ACT or any of the other similar tests is well, dumb. It does no young person or a college any favors.

I’m not sure about ACT specifically. I do know that for about 10 years there have been many reports of the dumbing-down of the SATs.
