There’s an interesting presentation at the link below on why China is in crisis, and it is partially because of trying to use hydro power to generate electricity during a drought.

How will California’s infrastructure support a population using EMVs?
Is California strengthening it’s power grid?
Are tens of thousands of new charging stations being built?
The real goal is to eliminate middle class people owning cars period.
Things are headed back to the 1920s when only the wealthy had cars.

Correct, just like they have with leaf blowers, string trimmers and all other small engine equipment.

“Thursday’s launch will require that 35 percent of new passenger vehicles sold in the state by 2026 produce zero emissions, then 68 percent by 2030 and ultimately 100 percent five years after”.

Well good, we will not have to wait long for this to be shown to be unenforceable.
No way Kali sells 35% of all new cars as EV’s NEXT YEAR!
And the potential ban on bringing in cars from other states is most likely illegal too.
Some Kali. counties are already prohibiting new gas station construction.

When this is actually announced it will lead to lawsuits in short order.
Folk are not going to be rendered unable to move freely without a fight.
I look forward to the eco-nuts losing this one ASAP.

<< The climate crisis is solvable if we focus on the big, bold steps needed to stem the tide of carbon pollution,’ Newsom said >>

Of course calling out China and holding them accountable for being by far the biggest polluter in the world isn’t one of those steps, which proves that none of them believe any of this climate bullshit.

this will result in increased cost for used cars which will have a negative affect on the lower half on income earners and they exist in much higher numbers than the affluent, the EV buyers. This, of course, results in further division of the people of the nation and increased finger pointing, distrust and violence. And the people will begin reading the preamble of the US Constitution.

Australian banks announced this week they will cease making loans on gasoline or diesel vehicles. Is that next here??

In the 90s California had a “smog impact fee” in regard to bringing cars into the state. It was pretty hefty. Finally challenged and invalidated in court, the state had to issue refunds. I will have to do a little research to see the basis of the ruling.

If Newsom runs for president, the Republicans need to hang this, and other California BS, around his neck like a scarlet letter.

I remember reading Two Years Before the Mast, written about 1850?...in which Henry Dana described the morbid smog that covered sections of the coast of California.

Made a fairly long trip into mostly rural Kali recently.
Saw lots of new gas stations under construction.
Some have EV Chargers at the edge of the parking lots.

So I guess these trucks used in mining materials to make EV batteries are zero emission?

Great experiment. Honestly I have no idea how it will work out. Certainly Gavin has some idea about how the citizens will react.
