Voters were awaiting late returns Tuesday night to determine whether Nicholas A. Langworthy or Carl P. Paladino emerges as the Republican candidate and the November favorite in the reconfigured 23rd Congressional District.
Early totals could not point to a definitive winner in the district that spans seven counties, leading both campaigns to wait far beyond the 9 p.m. close of polls to identify the Republican nominee to face Democrat Max Della Pia – a retired Air Force officer – in the Nov. 8 general election.
And because turnout for a rare August primary election was deemed light across the seven-county district, officials in both camps were waiting for the latest results before any declarations of victory or defeat.

the Republicans are doing abysmally. The abortion issue is rescuing the Democrats.26 and 0 tonight
people must be lying to pollsters..every poll i see, abortion is at or near the bottom of importance...here in Michigan, Whitmer is just hammering Tudor Dixon every day with the same abortion commercial...Dixon is for out right bans, no exception....that might fly in Alabama or Mississippi, but not a swing state like Michigan...hope we didnt over reach on this..
Apples and oranges. I am talking about R vs.D special elections, not primaries.
Primary wins are meaningless if you lose the general election.
And DeSantis and Abbott will crush it. Remember, Hispanics are turning GOP. Watch Nevada and New Mexico.
If you aren't seeing the polls showing abortion rising as an issue, you aren't looking.
In the wake of the Supreme Court decision on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Center to overturn Roe, abortion access has become salient among key voting groups, including the population most impacted by abortion restrictions – women between the ages of 18 and 49. Among this population, there has been a fourteen percentage point increase in the share who say abortion will be “very important” to their 2022 midterm vote (59% in February to 73% in July). In addition, six in ten women voters between 18 and 49 now say they are “more motivated” to vote because of the Supreme Court’s decision (up 19 percentage points from May when the question was asked about a scenario in which Roe was overturned based on a leaked draft opinion). The vast majority (88%) of the more motivated group of women voters between 18 and 49 say they plan on voting for candidates who will protect access to abortions.

Abortion trumps inflation as most important issue to Michigan voters in gubernatorial race: new poll
i know im overly concerned...but rarely do you get House conditions like this with a potential wave election..its about even now...a 65 seat curb stomp like in 2010 would take the dems 20 years to reverse. The right track/ wrong track is 21-78 for crying out loud...inflation at 40 year highs...gas still higher than ive ever seen it. Just saw a report that the housing market is crashing...baby formula shortages??..reallly??....Republicans laid a 64 seat beat down on the magic negro over a dumb health care law. This should easily be a 70-80 seat destruction in the House...
i agree...something is happening out there..but if people are gonna lie to pollsters, this would def be an issue they would lie about. I saw the latest NBC poll yesterday, and abortion was at the bottom again, below climate change....i say this total ban stuff is too much too soon....
Michigan voters need to suffer more economic misery in order to correct the error in their priorities. There is a mean part of me looking forward to it.
Education is a huge winning issue for us. If Dixon is going to win, then she needs to push it hard, could win some black voters over.
I also think that Trump Kit Kat girl is right. Many upstate aconservatives likely threw in the towel and moved.
I share your concern.
Most likely the GOP will take a narrow margin in the House, meaning they can’t pass anything without getting the RINOs on board.
I say 30 seats at least.
The sky is falling!! The sky is falling!!
You're borderline lunatic rubbing your hands together, clutching you pearls, jumping up and down over 2 worthless election losses.
From that you go to losing it all because of:
ABORTION!, ABORTION!, ABORTION.
Get a grip. Primary wins are meaningless if you lose the general election.
You also don't get to the general election unless you win in the primary genius.
Democrats over performed in the last 4 specials in Nebraska, Minnesota and now 2 districts in NY.
It’s called a trend. But you can enjoy your fact free world.
Not Broward...but a solid day for Rs across the state.
It’s called a backlash.
Happens when one side overplays their hand.
The message coming out of Dobbs was to be “issue goes back to the states” ... but Republicans started talking about bans and national statutes. McCarthy mentioned something about federal legislation.
Stupid party. Stupid is as stupid does ...
You really need to calm down with all the finger pointing, anger, and insinuations. This is a conservative forum. Not twitter.
Good thing Paladino lost, we don’t need any potentially weak candidates.
