The Cal State system graduates Black students at lower rates than other groups. Students, scholars and advocates say the reasons are myriad.

It was a never problem for me, thanks to the tutelage of my accounting professor at Gonzaga. He was my professor for over 30 semester hours, and he never used numbers.

He told us, "I'm going to tell you where the numbers go. If you pay attention to me, they will always balance."

That Public Accounting Major unofficially included a minor in Critical Thought. His two tests, a midterm and a final, always consisted of 5 essay questions. Two, if not three of the questions required the first sentence to read, "based on the information you've given me, I cannot answer the question."

Then you'd have to explain why you couldn't answer the question. The trick was to discover which questions required that initial sentence.

His grading curve was generous, out of 150 possible points, a 90 got you a B plus. The only class of his that I mastered was Cost Accounting my senior year. I scored a 141/150 on the Fall Final.

How do I remember that 46 years later? Easy, while a few of my buddies and I were in the bookstore buying books for spring semester, he chanced to come to the bookstore as well.

He saw me, walked over to me, stuck out his hand and said, "NHN, let me shake your hand, I'm proud of you." The only sound heard in the bookstore were jaws hitting the floor from my buds...lol.

It seems it not much better in the AngloSphere. (On YouTube watch the History Debunked presentations.) The UK & Canada are very infected with “wokeness”. Perhaps, OZ & NZ are less so but an awfully long way to go. Otherwise, you will have to first learn a foreign language well to survive in college\university. France might be your best bet. I have no idea how easy it is for a foreign student to get into a French school.

“Relatively poorer study habits and attendance in grammar school, junior high school and high school for blacks. That is born out by the statistics and I trace it back to family discipline and, in many case, the lack of a father in the home. Getting through school is hard work and young kids need to be preached to that they have to keep the old nose the grindstone.

The solution to this: black families have to do it. They have to stay together and raise their kids. Most do but a large percentsge don’t. The problem is theirs to fix.”

All of that will help—a lot.

But—at the end of day the inheritable portion of IQ is going to be the deal killer for the majority of blacks.

You need a college degree to understand that.

Oh, no, wait...you don't need a college degree to come to the conclusion you did.

Anyone with common sense would agree that sending unprepared people into an environment they are going to fail it is destructive to society, the institution, but most of all, the black student who was given preferential treatment in admissions in order to fill a quota.

This just makes me angry.

Frederick Douglas famously said in a lecture:

Everybody has asked the question, and they learned to ask it early of the abolitionists, “What shall we do with the Negro?”

I have had but one answer from the beginning. Do nothing with us! Your doing with us has already played the mischief with us. Do nothing with us!

If the apples will not remain on the tree of their own strength, if they are worm eaten at the core, if they are early ripe and disposed to fall, let them fall! I am not for tying or fastening them on the tree in any way, except by nature’s plan, and if they will not stay there, let them fall. And if the Negro cannot stand on his own legs, let him fall also. All I ask is, give him a chance to stand on his own legs! Let him alone!

If you see him on his way to school, let him alone, don’t disturb him! If you see him going to the dinner table at a hotel, let him go! If you see him going to the ballot- box, let him alone, don’t disturb him! If you see him going into a work-shop, just let him alone, your interference is doing him a positive injury.

Gen. Banks’ “preparation” is of a piece with this attempt to prop up the Negro. Let him fall if he cannot stand alone! If the Negro cannot live by the line of eternal justice, so beautifully pictured to you in the illustration used by Mr. Phillips, the fault will not be yours, it will be his who made the Negro, and established that line for his government.

Perhaps, may I boldly suggest, because blacks are not very good students? And that there are not many of them entering, and many of those who do are woefully unprepared for college level work. Just suggesting...

I went to school in CA, graduating from HS in 72, when CA public schools were excellent. For example, most if not all of my 6th grade class tested at 12th grade reading level.

Nowadays, HS students transferring from CA to Texas find themselves 1-2 years behind their peers here.

I had an associate’s degree (general studies - lit, mythology, philosopy, math, chemistry, etc) from Monterey Peninsula College, a dozen or so semester hours through University of Maryland overseas (Augsburg) in German, psychology, math and, when I applied to UC San Diego was turned down as I had FAILED 10th grade Spanish (adolescent crisis and HATED my teacher).

I appealed the decision and was accepted into the fall 1983 class.

I graduated Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, was on the Regents’s Scholar list for three years (basically citizens/taxpayers of California picking up the tab for my tuition) and a GPA of (IIRC) 3.925 (I got a couple of B grades in O-chem) and went on to Med school in ‘87 with double-digit MCAT scores.

I had a friend, former Army buddy (a bunch of us from Ft. Ord managed to wind up inSane Diego in the 80’s), and Gary had a part-time job called “summer bridge.”

This program was developed to TRY and bring high school graduates up to University level course work, teaching critical reading/analysis skills, test taking strategies and I remember while he was explaining this to me how I recalled my issues with applying and initial rejection and my academic performance to date and I blew up on him.

Gary, an apologist for failed liberal policies for years and longer still afterwards (to the point we haven’t spoken for over 25 years), maintained this was “fair,” and equitable and all the right leftist buzzwords basically completely exonerating the abject FAILURE of California’s K-12 education system.

Thing is, I was in classes with a lot of the “Summer Bridge” students and to the man, each and every one would have been better served by attending Junior College or tech schools IMHO.

I had long talks with my faculty advisors (Chris Wills, Stanley Miller, Martin Wierschin) about this and they all agreed it was tragic socially, economically and strategically to place students unsuited to actual University level work in that environment.

Hordes of them would gather in the quad banging drums, blowing whistles chanting “Justice for Nelson Mandela” (or the marxist hero du Jour), agitate for naming the new “Third College” after communist terrorist Angela Davis, or hang around the “Che Cafe” or lounge on blankets around campus selling African-styled jewelry, hats, pro-palestianian flags, marxist literature and other trinkets more suitable for third world shitholes.

I can only imagine - and read about - how bad it is now.

Every year I still get mailers from the Alumni association begging for money and I sent the letter back with a simple note:

Don’t ask me for a penny until that homage to a racist, murderous, terrorist, the “Che Cafe” is closed or renamed for someone who wasn’t a communist.

I’d looked into joining a fraternity once, but was roundly rejected because I already HAD a personality.

And motivation on the part of the student, not expectation due to their skin color!

After being in Warsaw recently and walking through the campus of the University of Warsaw, I thought to myself how cool it would have been to go there. Now even there in “Conservative” Poland, there is some woke crap at the universities, but it’s nothing like in Universities in the Anglosphere and Western Europe. And they do have some programs in English there.

A lot of professors just pass these kids to avoid “problems”. The System is set up to penalize them if they hold kids, especially POC, to high standards.

Of course, they are not doing them any favors. The degrees they get are worthless and, especially in the STEM field, employers see through this almost immediately.

If you check back in 5 years, many of those grads won’t be working in their fields. Though, what is happening now, is that many Corps are setting up make-work jobs that they can give to otherwise unqualified POC. Loud titles, okay salaries, but no real responsibilty. It’s essentially a SJW tax.

Just hand any black person with a GED or equivalent a degree from Cal State.

Reparations! Equity!

Some years back Texas A&M had some trouble with the Feds because of the low number of blacks in the student population. It turned out TAMU had a good number of ‘set asides’ for minority applications but those were almost never filled with applicants. What good is having N slots being held for minorities and only N/3 apply.

I was watching a video the other day, where there was a person asking general questions to people passing by. They looked they were old enough to be in their college years. The questions were along the line of, “Which state would you find Utah?” Not a one of them said Utah. Not one.

Another question, what is 3x3x3? After much stammering and figuring, several of them all came up with the same answer…36!

Oh, but they COULD name every one of the Kardashian sisters.

This does not bode well for the future, folks.

Wrong

Shouldn’t have brought them over to begin with

Anti white sentiment is killing America and the west

All imported

It’s not a coincidence this rises as white percentage declines drastically

The article states that 1/3 of Cal State San Marcos’ 2000 freshman last year are/were on academic probation (less than a 2.0). CA is in real trouble. . .

The lowest raked schools rate at 40 California schools are in the 30’s and they wonder why.

Mebbe Cal State could do case studies on those “black” students who did well and graduated on time. It’s pretty simple to come up with typologies that affect performance:

Preparation.
Motivation.
Family support.
Family education levels.
Focus on education (instead of atheletics).
Finances.
Distractions (gangs, criminal conduct, family deaths/disasters, breeding).
Degree type/Major/Subjects being studied.
IQ.
Health and Mental Health.
Genetic percentage of blackness.
Place of origin.

Soon Cal State could analyze students based on these factors and predict whether they are worth admitting.

Not to worry.

As a programmer I worked with many Asians, they can answer those questions.

Hope that helps!
