The Cal State system graduates Black students at lower rates than other groups. Students, scholars and advocates say the reasons are myriad.

Slavery should have been abolished at the writing of the Constitution.“

Yes that is obvious from here but it was a absolutely a deal breaker at that time. The southern states would’ve left the convention and US would not exist.

As a EE Dept Chair a while back, I sponsored some blacks for the EE PhD. (That’s a real doctorate, not one in eddikashun.) All have done well. As a jet instructor pilot in my more fun years even further back, I trained many blacks. Not one failed. If you have high expectations, they will be met.

And then they’ll just hire more people from India and China, also gonna be getting a lot of new good people from Russia and Ukraine in the near future.

So they can use their “degrees” to roll up their doobies, while living in a van down by the river.

Years ago, I worked with a large Utility company in Georgia to try to reduce turnover in their Customer Service department. The objective was to see if we could get initial tenure to one year. (yes, a low bar) I developed a weighted application blank, based on a rigiorous examination of current and prior employees. Turns out, the single greatest factor in employee tenure was living at the same address for two years. Unfortunately, it excluded over 75% of black applicants. Couldn’t use it.

Oh I agree that people of all ethnicities are allowed into college that have no business being there. That’s a separate discussion.

That’s Shakespearian compared to other stuff I’ve read on NextDoor. I’ve come to expect the bottom of the barrel participants on that “FaceBook for Neighborhoods” app.

I’ve deleted my account because of it.

There are two reasons why black students fail to graduate at the same level as whites and Asians:

Affirmative Action programs. By definition these programs lower the standards for admission for blacks. So some will be admitted who are marginally qualified. And this is suppose to help them.

Relatively poorer study habits and attendance in grammar school, junior high school and high school for blacks. That is born out by the statistics and I trace it back to family discipline and, in many case, the lack of a father in the home. Getting through school is hard work and young kids need to be preached to that they have to keep the old nose the grindstone.

The solution to this: black families have to do it. They have to stay together and raise their kids. Most do but a large percentsge don’t. The problem is theirs to fix.

And government and media constantly work against actually solving this problem by pushing their black victimhood views. Votes are more important than black lives.

Talked to an old friend this weekend.

He is trying to hire an employee.

People applying CAN NOT EVEN READ OR WRITE. Not the application-—not the labels on containers they use every day in the business.

He called it downright TOXIC. AND—They are demanding $15 an hour & BENEFITS.

I would seriously consider going outside of the US for college these days.

The “reasons’ ARE NOT “myriad”

Blame the student

and the system that brings the ‘student” in the first place

I have seen so much of this ***t Bring the unqualified or marginal “student” or employee in at the expense of white, Asian or Jewish ones . . . then the turnover begins . . and it’s usually pretty quick

Then watch as they get bounced around just in time for the numbers-count to report to the “media” or government their “quota”

They have been raised on freebies from welfare-—this is a continuation of that, IMO.

“Just hand out Degrees like High School Diplomas”

They already do that. We dont hire Cal grads because they’re morons. We administer “composition” tests and they fail in epic fashion.

How can someone use the word “like” 5 times in a sentence?

Its always funny how black (or other groups that tend to be lower socioeconomically) that come from good schools and private schools don’t seem to have this issue when they go to college.

Excellent observation.

I graduated in 63 from one of the best regarded high schools in the US. We had a smattering of lower groups, I know, I was one of them. No one passed anyone along. You either cut the grade, no excuses, or you stayed put. We had both college prep or trade programs. My folks ensured I was going through the college route. There were no shootings while I was there, no race demos, NADA of that crud.

Today same school not as well regarded. Woke for sure. Liberalism kills anything it touches. It chokes the life out of things under the banner of making things better for all. Simply put, it works for those in charge, for the rest not so much.

see my last post. 100% agreed. Cal, UCLA, USC or any California university, we ALWAYS administer a composition and spelling test.

These are 22-25 year old imbeciles who cannot even correctly differentiate and use “lose” and “loose” in a sentence.

IF over 65 years of accounting, I could only get the books to balance 10% of the time-—I would have taken up welding or something else.
