Agreed, it seems unlikely Ms. Dugin would be the Ukies' target. But, what about Mr. Dugin? OTOH, if I was an internal foe or rival of Alex Dugin, or, for that matter Putin, this would be the perfect time to whack Mr. Dugin and point the finger. 50/50?

Well Comrade, using your warped logic, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan are all still apart of Russia, no?

Who’s the retard chubster in the photo with DeSantis?

Why Comrade Rhino, that is Colonel Douglas Mastriano, the next governor of Pennsylvania!

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis campaigns for Doug Mastriano in Pittsburgh How could you not know that?

Take note of all those medals on his chest with lots of stars.

How many of those do YOU have?

“I doubt the Ukes would waste resources going after Dugin rather than Shoigu or other top officials. More likely it was some faction in Putin’s circle.”

True.

What level of cynicism Putin and the FSB has now reached in relation to their own supporters!

They killed the daughter, Daria Dugina, of Putin’s chief ideologist and fierce hater of Ukraine, in order to mobilize far-right Putin supporters after the 6-month total failure of the war against Ukraine.

This kind of an action is effective against high-ranking military officials, war criminals, secretaries, developers of new dangerous weapons, terrorists. For Ukraine to waste energy, resources and valuable agents on a third-tier level is completely pointless.

Who benefited from an attempt to kill her father?

1- The main beneficiaries are of course Putin and the FSB to use for propaganda obvious: divert the audience’s attention from the complete failure of the so-called “svo”, which began as a “victory march” on Kyiv and ends with the daily air defense operation in the deep back of the Russians.

2- Obviously, the same brutal massacre awaits high-ranking military commanders and intelligence officers who were preparing a failed offensive. They will be blown up, shot and blamed Ukraine for it, trying to maintain Russians support hatred and support for this invasion of Ukraine.

Yes and maintain control of others in the Kremlin. Of course, like liberal Putin will never let such a ‘good tragedy go to waste.

How very sad all this has become for one man’s dream of being emperor over a non-existent empire.

Now that is the most ironic statement you have made yet!

If it wasn’t for Zelensky breaking his promise to Putin to remove nukes and not to consider joining NATO, Putin wouldn’t have invaded 4 days later.

The Soviets certainly saved the UK from Hitler, without a doubt.

Soviet Expansionism made Hitler's election possible.

Without the Soviets, there never would have been a Hitler.

The Soviets tried to take Poland in 1919 and they were as incompetent then as the Russians are now.

The Germans saw global Communism as a threat, and History proved them right.

I agree the drone strike in Kabul was just to cover the regime's political butt. However, it was easy for us to do since we had the assets in place to do so.

Figuring out Dugin's schedule and planting the bomb would have taken considerable black ops effort on the Uke's part, and Dugin would not have rated high enough to warrant that effort.

My guess is Dugin was muttering about Putin's and/or the army's incompetence to the wrong people, maybe even talking about a coup, so taking him out and blaming the Ukes became an attractive strategy for some faction in the FSB or whatever the successor to the GRU is.

There are 8 or 10 alternatives, but it’s certainly plausible that whoever carried out or ordered the bombing did so in opposition to what Dugin stands for, and the damage it has done to either Russians and ukrainians. Killing his daughter even raises the possibility of personal payback by a mafiosi who lost his son in the Ukraine war. I tend to think this involves insider struggles for influence, wherein Dugin threatens someone else’s turf.

The Ukrainians have been pushing to get Russia listed as a terrorist state, so killing Dugin in a bombing and blaming the Ukrainians would provide a good propaganda point. But why Dugin and not, say, a military housing complex with military families? He must have been up to something, maybe part of a coup plot that made him a target.

Other than for the first three, none were ever functioning countries in the modern era. The understandable rush to exit the Soviet Union didn’t give these states time to see whether they were able to or should be separate nations. Three decades on, they can be evaluated. Ukraine has been almost a singular failure and epic disaster.

It’s entirely possible this was engineered by people in Russia who want to end the war.

This is not a civil war for the simple reason that Ukraine has been a distinct political entity since the 1920s - yes even under the USSR it held a separate UN seat.

Ukrainians are related to Russians as East Slavs and the language is somewhat mutually intelligible, but this is no different than Italians and Spaniards - or do you think a conflict between Italy and Spain (not likely) would be a civil war?
