The idea of drinking water that was recently sewage swirling down your toilet bowl, shower drain, or kitchen sink may sound pretty icky. But experts say it’s actually nothing to be squeamish about — and it might be coming to your state and city soon.

It’s a water recycling method known as direct potable reuse, or DPR, which sends highly treated sewage water almost directly to a drinking water system for distribution to communities. It’s legal in Texas, and legal on a case-by-case basis in Arizona. Multiple other states are in the process of formulating regulations to legalize it too, including California, Colorado, and Florida.

Thankfully we don't have sewage in our drinking water supply.

If you live in New York City, you have always used recycled sewage. The sewage treatment plant is upstream from the waterworks.

To be a pedant, we all have been drinking recycled water since the days of Adam and Eve.

As long as it works, it's what happens in nature.
But when equipment breaks down or is mismanaged, which seems to happen a lot in dem run cities, then we have a problem.
Water itself can be cleaned and used over and over indefinitely, the question is if we can trust the ones doing it.

Fluoridation. It’s a Communist conspiracy. You ever see a Communist drink tap water Mandrake? That’s why I only drink grain alcohol and rain water…

Was done in Socal since at least the early 70’s. How it’s done. Pump the reclaimed water back into the aquifer through a recharge well.100feet away, draw the water out to be used for consumption. This was done to dilute the nasty natural Socal groundwater, that would otherwise need treatment, with cleaner reclaimed water, in order to mean federal clean water standards.

Will the treatment take out female hormones?

Will it take out Covid?

Etc.

I believe they can take out the poop and the yellow color, but how about the rest?

Or do they just pump it full of more chemicals to ‘neutralize’ it.

I’m of the opinion this and recycled sewer sludge is a culprit in all the eColi outbreaks we see in foods eColi never existed before.

That’s Hayden Lake, Idaho. There are lots of glacial lakes like that are around here and continue a couple hundred miles into British Columbia to the north.

In southern California, it's already just a 3-day process from raw sewage, back into the drinking water supply.

Can't tell the people though, until their legislation passes.

From the thrust of the article I’m guessing he recycles sewage. But I’m not quite sure how he could make so much money at it.

Large, silver domes, just off of the E River, IIRC.
