As you know, that’s been going on for a long time in Colorado and still is. There’s just a lot more rich people in America now.

You’ll eat bugs ... we’ll fly private jets.

This is how Goddess Gaia ordained it to be.

“In 2007, the 100 largest private landowners owned a combined 27 million acres of property. Fourteen years later, they control 42.2 million acres...”

Well, which is it? Ownership or control of the land? Not necessarily the same thing. A little apples-to-oranges dishonesty there?

Also, what does “panning for mineral rights” mean?

I like the large land owners. They tend to be good stewards of the land and they don’t do much with it other than build a mansion in one corner and improve the habitat. Usually, long term conservation easements are involved too.

And then they die and some of it gets broken up again. It’s nothing to worry about except for those who hate seeing others succeed in spectacular fashion. Under even today’s hog-tied capitalism, some people will be very successful.

It’s a big problem for hunters. The critters learn real fast that if they jump the fence onto private land they won’t get shot. Or the rich guy charges high prices for access.

Good. The super wealthy have bought up the land. Now spring the trap: tax the living hell out of it, bleed them dry. Bwah hah hah hah hah!

A quibble with Karen’s statement that they ‘own’ the land. Technically speaking, they rent it from the local government and can pretend they own it as long as they pay the taxes.

Private land ownership was obliterated by the commies in America back when they convinced gullible idiots that ‘property taxes’ were ‘a good thang’ and the only solution.

If you don’t pay your taxes men with guns will eventually show up and remove you from the property. How is that ‘private ownership’?

we have some acres in MT.
The prices for land tripled or more since 2019.
If you search Zillow for chunks over 20 acres youll see listings for 29k in 2019 are now over 100k....maybe even 150k. crazy.
