Former President Donald Trump said Monday that FBI agents “stole” his passports last week when they raided his residence at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Fla — his latest explosive allegation against federal law enforcement.
“Wow! In the raid by the FBI of Mar-a-Lago, they stole my three Passports (one expired), along with everything else,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.
“This is an assault on a political opponent at a level never seen before in our Country. Third World!” the 45th president added.
FBI agents searched Trump’s residence within his ritzy Mar-a-Lago club Aug. 8 in connection to records that were removed from the White House when Trump left office in January 2021.
Documents unsealed Friday say the Justice Department is investigating whether Trump broke three laws pertaining to official records, including the Espionage Act of 1917 — a law used in recent years to justify harsh sanctions, including against whistleblowers.
Typically, the seizure of a person’s passports indicates that authorities believe them to be a flight risk — or that they could face criminal charges preventing them from traveling outside the US.

Just sharing the comments. Some are pretty good.
It comes off as rude.
This reminds me of when a home is damaged by a hurricane and the family is scouring through the belongings to see if anything was lost. It seems that, at some point and in a similar scenario, Trump must have realized: “Wait. Where are my passports?”
Get rid of the house DJT it has been shat upon
The warrant did not give the FBI the power to seize documents such as passports.
It lists about 1/2 page of “Property to be Seized”
Nothing remotely related to a passport.

Thanks, I appreciate it.
That is probably accurate BUT! Explain what authority the FBI had for stealing the expired passport?
I'm not sure how passports work, but I wonder if a special one is issued to the sitting President. That would explain why he had more than one. The expired ones, of course, are returned after the new ones are issued.
I don’t think it would be beneath the FIB to have planted listening devices in his home.
I don’t think anything is beneath them at this point. Victor Davis Hanson made an observation that basically our constitutional Republic is dead. What we have now is a “radical democracy”, in the sense that whatever the administration wants to do, they go ahead and do it, the law and the Constitution be damned. They’re in power at the moment, so they do whatever they want. Nobody seems willing to stop them. Where’s Mitch???
The visa stamps in expired passport may be of interest to counterintelligence.
they have to give him his most current pass port back, right?
It says they can take any government record created between Jan 20, 2017 and Jan 20, 2021. That's about as broad as it gets.
That ridiculously broad thing would include everything generated by the Legislative or Judicial branch. It really does not narrow it down to Federal records either.

Officials engaged in official travel must travel on an official (diplomatic) passport. They travel on a tourist passport on personal travel. For such officials it is normal and required to have two passports.
Democrats do whatever they want even when they aren’t “in power.”
I,for one, always appreciative it when you do that! Doesn’t come across as “rude” IMO.
Thanks. Lots more comments=more yuks in a lot of cases.
