Russian paratrooper reveals how he had NO idea he was invading Ukraine until the shelling started and tells how his comrades were slaughtered while using rusty machine guns and 'the tactics of our grandfathers'

Pavel Filatiev, 33, highlights Russian army's shortcomings in explosive new book Paratrooper Pavel was part of invading force, but quit on medical grounds He now opposes war and said: 'We had no moral right to attack another country'

Soldiers under Putin are 'dissatisfied' and under-supplied amid 'terrible war'

Mr Filatiev, 33, dressed in his army uniform, was part of Russia's invading forces on February 24. But now he opposes the 'terrible war' Russia had 'no moral right' to begin

Putin's soldiers had no idea they were invading Ukraine until they took return fire from Kyiv forces, an ex-paratrooper in the Russian army has revealed in an explosive new memoir.

Pavel Filatiev, 33, says his elite unit was moved to the border with Ukraine after he had seen talk of a planned invasion in the world's media, but that they were sent in with no warning that they'd be facing enemy forces.

His memoir also tells how he was given a rusty machine gun and an ill-fitting uniform, and that his comrades were wiped out because they were using 'our grandfathers' tactics'.

He said he woke up to the sound of gunfire in the back of an army truck crossing the border at 2am on February 24, the day the invasion began.

Filatiev asked: 'Are we firing at advancing Ukrainians?

'Where we were going and why wasn't clear. It was clear that a real war had begun. I found out [we had] orders to go to Kherson.'

No one likes Russians.

For years following the fall of Saigon, few white people from outside the Soviet bloc visited Vietnam. But those who did had to learn this Vietnamese phrase: Không phải Liên Xô (I am not a Soviet).

Russian tactics are effective in a way that those tactics used by Americans are not possible. It is to flatten everything with artillery and push men at the enemy to be slaughtered and ultimately to overrun the objective. The number of dead soldiers is of no consequence. There are more where they came from and Koreans and Syrians besides.Just keep pushing men into the meatgrinder until the mechanism falls apart.

So where is the author? Is he in the west now or is he thumbing his nose at Moscow while in Russia?

Wait a minute, I though you celebrated the deaths of these Russian soldiers, because they are all evil. Now you are showing sympathy for them?

Of course, Biden couldn't burden himself with really paying attention to work diligently towards a solution to stop the invasion to begin with. You see, Biden wanted Russia to invade. For he wanted this proxy war with Russia in hopes of getting Putin removed, and to further weaken Russia as a nation. Biden didn't give a rat's ass of concern for the Ukrainian people or even the sovereignty of Ukraine, anymore than he cares about the sovereignty of our nation.

Well, at least Biden has been partially successful, for he has weakened the U.S. for his New World Order masters.

it was said in WW2 that Mother Russia has lots of sons in describing their use of frontal assaults and other high casualty tactics.

I have a lot of sympathy for the 18-27 year old Russian conscripts, mostly young boys. The contract soldiers and Private Military Company operators though get what they deserve.

And these paratroopers never considered cleaning their weapons?

It doesn't work that way in the Russian Army. No personal initiative, even when common sense demands it, is allowed. An officer has to order it first.

The Russian people are just as much victims of the regime as anyone else.

Meanwhile, Vlad has liberated almost 30 percent of Ukraine, rusty machine guns and all….Vlad has rolled up the ethnic Eastern territories and all the way to Kherson, Bakmut is falling, the Eastern front collapsed….I am still waiting for the Ukie million man army with brand new, shiny US weapons to go on their much publicized “ offensive”.

What a shame to see the rag tag, demoralized, Ivan soldiers with rusty weapons constantly retreating forward while the Ukies are constantly advancing backwards….yeah, right….didn’t anyone learn from Trump’s message about listening to fake western MSM?

Retired F-14 pilot Ward Carrol said it best: "When you have to lie to your troops to get them to cross the line of departure, you know you are on the wrong side of the war."

Russia went one further. Everyone up and down the chain of command from the NCOs to Putin were all lying about how equipped, trained, and prepared the Russian army was.

WWII Germans had the “empty bag” tactic against Red Army

Will build line of fortifications, at last second would abandon them leaving only a thin line of outposts ]

Soviets artillery would fall on mostly empty ground

As infantry advanced into the area would find empty trenches
and bunkers. Troops would start milling around in confusion wonder where the Krauts went

At this point Germans would launch a counter attack taking advantage of the Soviets confusion

Russian aggression has been resented for the last several hundred years. Russian leadership has been blind to this and it has gotten a lot of Russians killed.
