Oklahoma parents protest explicit books in public school libraries

Oklahoma parents on Tuesday night spoke out against explicit library books at a school board meeting.

Stillwater Public Schools, which serves more than 8,300 students, says their library is selected by professional Library Media Specialists in a statement released to the media. The district said that there is a process by which parents may call for material to be reviewed, and they have not received any such requests recently.

The parents were summoned to speak as their names were called to address matters on the meeting's agenda.

"You guys probably are aware that TPS [Tulsa Public Schools] and Mustang Schools are going through some accreditation problems via House Bill 1775," said Riley Fleck, a parent that spoke at the podium while holding a book.

Fleck went on to say, "[Stillwater] is going to have the same issue if you don't clean it up. And I'm going to find it and I've got some connections that I've made over the last couple of years battling [Stillwater]. I'll bring that to bear."

This article is a bit biased/watered down in favor of the school. A better picture is provided by a couple of the speakers at Tuesday's school board meeting, particularly the fellow starting at 25:23.

Shouldn’t they just pull their kids out of the school? Oh, maybe they could even teach their own kids the acceptable morals.

Really takes your breath away. And to think all I did at that age was read hockey books or Tintin or those silly Scholastic adaptations of your favourite TV show or Disney movie.

One of those morals is not leaving society and public schools for degenerates to run.

The article now is ‘page unresponsive’. Book titles are rarely listed. What are the offensive books, are parents outraged over ‘Monster’ or ‘My Gay Summer’. No one on either side seems to want to really get down to the granular level of weather it is just a ‘realistic’ work like Monster or soft and hard core porn disguised as ‘young adult’ reading. Back in the 1980’s my high school srep daughter ordered books from the ‘Scholastic’ site that contained detailed graphic descriptions of sexual intercourse by the teen principles of the ‘young adult’ novel genre. Back in the 60’s my father raised hell with his sister for letting her teen daughter read Erskine Caldwell’s exploitation novel ‘Claudelle Inglish’. His sister defended allowing this by saying the girl’s English teacher had recommended it as ‘realistic’.
So this fight has been going on a while, knowing the details is important and generally lacking.

My Jr.high school, 1974, in port orchard Washington had Clockwork Orange in the advanced/speed reading class library.

My book report was one sentance:

Disgusting perverted violent filth.

So this fight has been going on a while

It's been going on for longer than most people know, including what novels have been chosen to be "classics". Degenerates have been arbiters of our culture for at least a century.

The most scandalous book I remember reading when I was in middle school was ‘Are you there God, it’s me Margaret’. It was a book on a young girl going through puberty.

Oh, and ‘Alice doesn’t live here anymore’ - a book about a woman who drug overdosed and died.

Other than that, I got nothing. The people who are putting the sexually explicit books in children’s hands today are pushing sexuality on children who are not developed enough to understand and make mature decisions.

If a stranger walked up to a child and started reading some of these things in the books that are in the library today, they would be arrested.

In the old days, they would have stormed the local teacher
with a horse, a high limb, and a short rope soon to be put
to reasoned use.

Don't know about the book, but A Clockwork Orange is the greatest movie of all time.

As is always the case the book is better than the movie!

For a long time there was a major push to have George Moore’s blasphemous novel ‘The Brook Kerith’ be considered part of the ‘classics’. In the novel Jesus denies every item of church doctrine from Virgin Birth to Resurection. Considers is disciples to be fools and leaves to go to India to be a Bhuddist.

Note the studied silence from the school board members. They had nothing to say. They should have been called out to answer. Shitcan them all.

The farther back you go, the more indirect the filth had to be to get it past public defenses. Moby Dick was a prime example.

‘Alice doesn’t live here anymore’ - a book about a woman who drug overdosed and died.
Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore (Alice the Wolf #1)
by Zoe E. Whitten (Goodreads Author)

Beginning a new spin off series after the events in Peter the Wolf...

Life was supposed to get better for Alice Culpepper after Peter Holmes turned himself over to the FBI, but growing up and moving on has only become more difficult in his absence. It’s hard enough being the only lycanthrope in Dallas, but Alice also suffers harassment and bullying from other students and l ...more

There seems to be another Alice these days.

I don’t remember that in the 1974 movie.
