US inflation will likely stay high even as gas prices fall
The Associated Press ^ | August 9, 2022 | By CHRISTOPHER RUGABER

WASHINGTON (AP) — Americans may finally be catching a break from relentlessly surging prices — if just a slight one — even as inflation is expected to remain painfully high for months.

Thanks largely to falling gas prices, the government’s inflation report for July, to be released Wednesday morning, is expected to show that prices jumped 8.7% from a year earlier — still a sizzling pace but a slowdown from the 9.1% year-over-year figure in June.

President Joe Biden has already pointed to falling gas prices as a sign that his policies — such as releases of oil from the nation’s strategic reserve — are helping combat the higher costs that have hammered household budgets, particularly for lower-income families.

Yet Republicans will push ongoing high inflation as a top campaign issue in this fall’s elections, with polls showing that high prices have driven Biden’s approval ratings down sharply.

I gassed up at my local station this afternoon for $3.95 9/10. But my grocery bills are up significantly.

Good. I really want the American voters to suffer badly. Even now the stupid scum are saying “Hey, gas is cheaper than last month. I don’t feel so bad now.” “I heard Biden’s big budget law passed and he’s on a roll.”

I want them to suffer. Otherwise, Dems win, we lose and America is extinguished for the new Chinese style totalitarian state.

We are two, living modestly in a mobile home, no AC, clever usage of five fans moves the air comfortably (in from under the trees . . . nice and cool) and straight out the other end.

We have a well, so no water bill, septic, so no sewage bill, phone, TV and internet rounds out our energy draw.

In summer we use almost no electricity and I'm struggling with $175.00 electric bill.

“I really want the American voters to suffer badly.”

At this point, what anyone wants in that regard is irrelevant. It’s happening, and it will get a lot worse before it gets better.

I use nitrile gloves in work. Last time I bought a box of 50 for just over 10 bucks, about a year and a half ago.

Went to buy another box: The box of 100 was cheaper than the box of 50, but ignoring that, the box of 50 was up 400%.

WTH?

...”falling gas prices as a sign that his policies — such as releases of oil from the nation’s strategic reserves”...

That is not a policy that is a card trick. Only helps a tiny bit until you run out of cards.

Then again maybe China will sell the oil back to us later.

Gas was $4.24 last week here. It was $4.69 this morning and $4.89 this afternoon. Ctrl MO.

We’ve always bought some off brands or store brands(not Great Value) of most things but had our favorite brand name items. I’m slowly replacing them by trying off brands.

The fall in gasoline prices is purely artificial, supported only by the release from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, and will have an effect only as long as the remaining reserves are not drawn completely.

But once that reserve is gone, it is gone, and the price of crude will once again rise to reflect a more honest market. The Biden regime is counting on being able to stretch things out until after the election.

But while the price of gasoline has fallen, Diesel fuel has not fallen proportionately. And Diesel fuel is what supports the supply chain, and makes all other goods either more or less available. the more the price of Diesel fuel stays up, the more all the other prices dependent on delivery stay up. And it is all socked to the consumer in the end.

Corporations do not pay taxes, they collect them.

The box of 100 only has right-hand gloves.

Hotel prices went down too. I think people are driving less. Especially diesel truck owners.

You are breaking my heart.
Big Island of Hawaii, my last bill was $0.51 per kWh,
for a total of $190 or so.
It isn’t all FJB’s, fault it is actually the fault of everybody in the USA that votes for Democrats and those lazy bastards that won’t vote against them.
Screw all of you!
My enemy is clear and they don’t speak Russian or Chinese.
They speak Democrat.
Aloha.

Surprised it’s that high for you - I am also in Nc, with a higher KWH rate, 4300 sq Ft home and keep the AC running nonstop in summer with 3 fridges and a large pool and I average around $425/mo so far this summer.

As long as the LIEberals (both Ds and Rs!) are in charge, we will have high inflation, more chaos, more crime, more carnage, more corruption, more disfunctional government, etc. etc.

When LIEberals are in charge, NOTHING works for the American people - but EVERYTHING works for the LIEberals!

NO DEMOCRAT SHOULD EVER BE ELECTED TO OFFICE IN THE USA AGAIN!
