Billionaires, Hollywood Celebrities Join Call to End Public Plane Tracking After ‘Climate Criminal’ Backlash
Breitbart ^

Posted on 08/08/2022 6:57:08 AM PDT by MNDude

Billionaires, Hollywood celebrities, and climate activists share fame, fortune, and a profile they work hard to control. All of which is why so many are calling on a public company not to track their flights and expose their carbon footprints.

AFP reports flight-following websites and Twitter accounts that offer real-time views of air traffic are on the end of regular pushback ranging from complaints to gear seizures by those who would rather their movements are not in the public domain.

Quelle surprise. The virtue signalers don’t like the exposure.

Too late, ADSB aircraft tracking software is readily available to any one. Couple that with cheap SDR wide band radio dongles and you can track onboard transponders of most commercial and private aircraft showing the flight path. Aircraft tail callsign records are available from many sources making it easy to cross reference who the “climate abusers” are. By the way tracking aircraft is a sub-hobby among scanner buffs and ham radio operators.

I use FlightRadar24 often.
First time I went to the site I was shocked at the number of planes in the air at any one time.
Made me appreciate the effort when Pres. Bush called for all air traffic to land after 9/11.

The information you get is coming from literally 100s of thousands of people like me who are gathering the information all over the world as hobby.

They do sell access to the information for developers and companies who write applications that might use their data.

The libtards, no matter how much they protest, bitch and moan, all want to be them.

They want the homes on the Vineyard, yacht at the Edgartown Yacht Club, and Gulfstream, they just can’t declare it publicly.

That’s interesting. Can you use something other than Raspberry PI to collect data, like a tablet or PC?

I wonder if these people realize that they are behaving *exactly* as George Carlin described in his “Save the Planet” stand-up rant/comedy routine. “Narrow-minded, unenlightened self-interest” indeed.

Carlin may have gotten a lot of things wrong, but he did get a lot of things right, too.

Khloe Kardashian took private air transport or a 17 minute flight to BURBANK. Don’t know where flight started.

I believe a lot of wealthy folks do that because of the ground traffic congestion. 15 minute plane ride vs two hours in a car.
Mostly Calif and NYC.

Sadly, it won't be.

No. It won't. Liberals all drink from the same kool-aid pitcher when it comes to their cause-du-joir. And when the cause is no longer relevant or has failed to come to pass, they totally forget about it.

I'm reminded of when Oral Roberts claimed his "vision" of Christ. Jesus told him to build a hospital and it would be full from day 1 and that a cure for cancer would be found there.

The hospital was never more than 1/4 full and, according to Robert's accountants, was hemorrhaging money. It closed, quietly, and I look at it every time I pass through Tulsa. But Robert's "followers" just quietly swept it under the rug.

Just like liberals.

I’m not 100% for sure, but a functioning Raspberry PI costs under $200 combined with all the equipment less than $300 for a fully working system.

Plus, FlightAware gives you step-by-step instructions on how to set everything up in case you are not Linux proficient.

The big key is getting the antenna situated properly, it needs to be as high as you can get it, with as little obstruction as possible.

If you have the antenna in the right spot, you can easily pick up airplane traffic up to 300 miles away.

I live in Florida, someone in the middle of the state with the antenna in just the right spot could see nearly 100% of the planes over the entire state.
