In a joint initiative, African countries are renewing their efforts to obtain reparations from European countries for the transatlantic slave trade and other colonial-era wrongs committed centuries ago.
The slave trade — which affected millions of Africans — was the largest forced migration in history and one of the most inhumane.
Over 400 years, Africans were transported to many areas of the world, yet no reparations have as yet been paid. The process is proving much slower than many Africans expected.
This week Ghana's president, Nana Akufo-Addo, revived the push for slavery and colonial retribution.
"No amount of money can restore the damage caused by the transatlantic slave trade — and its consequences — which has spanned many centuries, but nevertheless, it is now time to revive and intensify the discussions about reparation for Africa," Akufo-Addo said at a summit on reparations and racial healing in Accra, Ghana.
Ghana was one of the points of departure for many of those enslaved in West Africa and, for the Ghanaian leader, the time for reparations for colonial crimes and slavery is "long overdue."

The only fair thing to do is to restore the precolonial status quo by returning all the descendants of the slaves to the countries of origin, and remove all external influences to the continent, no external trade, no external funding, no external technology, no external cadre.
Africa has enough resources, enough mineral wealth, enough arable land, enough seed, feed and livestock, enough intrinsic know how to make a very good go of it and become a shining example to the rest of the world.
The Muslims had started the slave trade centuries before any Europeans showed up. The Portuguese sailed up to coastal slave exporting centers and decided to buy some for Brazil, and so the trans-Atlantic got started.
Why don’t they seek reparations from the Muslim countries in North Africa, the Middle East, etc.? Oman did not abolish slavery until 1970.

And the people of Ghana got rich over it all. And what about other people? The Romans to the Brits. The Brits to the Irish.

If there are reparations the African countries should pay it.

Get your reparations from the source, those who sold Africans into slavery: Their fellow Africans.
The Spanish did not kidnap slaves. They bought them at already-established Arab slave markets. The Arabs got them from the native Africans, who whooped up on each other to get slaves to sell. The Arabs had been importing African slaves for centuries before any European ever sighted the coast of Africa.
Again, they haven’t thought this through. The purpose of reparations it to offset the economic loss incurred in the next best alternative. I don’t know about Europe, but for the US, most slaves came from Ghana. To determine the reparation amount, take the current wage in Ghana for blacks and the current wage in the US for blacks and extrapolate back for over 150 years. As it turns out, blacks would owe whites about $680m/year for those 150+ years. Can’t wait to get my checks...
True. It’s estimated only about 4% landed on continental North America.
OK, while we are at it, how about Africa pay reparations for the hundreds of thousands of slaves captured by Barbary Coast raiders and enslaved in Africa? For example, the July 1625 raid where a twenty-ship contingent of jihadi pirates from Morocco arrived in Mount’s Bay in southern England. The moslems burst into the local parish church during a service, captured sixty men, women, and children from the terrified congregation and took them back to Morocco, to live a life of slavery. There were many such raids.
Slave trade existed in Africa long before the first white face ever showed up.
Maybe we could demand reparations from Macedonia for Alexander the Great conquering the whole known world.
They know only gullible whites are dumb enough to fall for this scam.
They won’t be asking the Chinese or Arabs for reprations. That much is for sure. Despite them committing even worse crimes.

I make the same argument. How far back in time do you want to go?
So the descendants of the BLACK slave sellers are going to pony up the money for the reparations?
After all, didn’t most of the BLACK slave sellers stay behind in Africa?
Are they going to contribute to reparations for the descendants of the slaves they sold who went to other continents?
And, I NEVER hear a word about the UK making reparations or returning wealth and treasure that they pilfered from 3/4 of the world. The queen struts around with jewels that were stolen and everyone seem to be okay with that.
Oh, so they’re gonna get reparations from the tribes that captured and enslaved them? Cool.
