KHIMKI, Russia (AP) — A judge in Russia has convicted and sentenced American basketball star Brittney Griner to nine years in prison for drug possession and smuggling.
Judge Anna Sotnikova said the time Griner has served in custody since her arrest in February would count toward the sentence.
Griner reacted to the sentence with little emotion. She listened to the verdict with a blank stare on her face.
While recapping the evidence and giving her findings Thursday, the judge said the 31-year-old Griner illegally brought drugs into Russia.

I don’t know how to refer to this person...he or she? So this person didn’t think this person was in any trouble...probably thought this person’s drugs were suitably hidden, and had probably done this before and gotten away with it. Russia will determine this person’s sex by taking a peek, and put this person into the proper gender prison. Whew, it is hard to type about someone who is not gender specific. Hope this person ends up in a female prison possibly a tiny bit better than a male prison.

The irony is, if nobody had made such a big deal of this in the first place then the Russians wouldn’t be doing this...it’s just leverage now for what they really want.
If she and the media had just shut up she would have probably received a very light sentence. But no, they had to make out she’s some sort of LeBron James - which is far more valuable.

Just strange, since Trevor Reed was exchanged earlier this year for a Russian drug smuggler named Konstantin Yaroshenko who is a $100 million cocaine pirate. No action on Paul Whelan until Griner is arrested. Seems like Griner should be the one exchanged for a drug smuggler.
This will all be done in the name of wokeness so that biden can appease his far-left base. This swap will likely take place right before the mid-term elections and there will be much fanfare in the media about it. This no talent b-ball player is a "twofer". She is both black and homosexual so this will allow the administration to tick both boxes at once and hopefully help to mobilize the black vote and the lgbtxyzq vote for the midterms.
