A veteran police officer who was named “Detective of the Year” in 2019 was charged with exchanging sexually explicit messages with someone he thought was a 14-year-old girl.
Gregory Daniel Beaumarchais, 43, is facing a misdemeanor charge of annoying or molesting a victim believed to be under the age of 18, Orange County District Attorney officials said on Tuesday
“Police officers are entrusted with the sacred responsibility to safeguard society from harm,” Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer said in a statement.

Kalifornia Man - No wonder they’ve got such terrible crime there.
You are absolutely correct.
It’s amazing to realize how our society has changed. Thirty years ago, I might have easily spoken to children or young adults without any sense of fear. Now, I go out of my way to not be around them. Several years ago, I was dressing out in the locker room of my gym when a young boy came in and started changing his clothes on the same bench. Avoiding eye contact, I hastily stuffed my clothing into a bag and left by the longer route which took me away from him rather than past him. I felt relief when I was out of the room. Dear God, what’s happened to our culture.
In the UK a few years back, I was visiting a friend at Christmas, and while at a restaurant, a group of young kids came in and began to sing Christmas carols for the crowd, that included a number of their parents.
As they sang, I naturally whipped out my camera to take a few pictures - I’m a tourist, after all. My friend stopped me - “don’t take any pictures, you don’t know those children, you’re not related, and if someone makes a fuss you’ll be in trouble.”
I was shocked. Just for taking a picture? But, this is now part of our world too.
Elmira Anchor Fired After Attempting to Meet Underage Boy for Sex
Last I knew, no arrest there...
This is what happens to a Christian nation when they start worshipping Baal. So to speak.
We've given ourselves over completely to Satan (via his earthly servants) and he's having his way with us. America is finished. There's no way we can fix this mess.
It's like a parent who lavishes love and adoration upon her precious darling. Darling grows up and is selfish, narcissistic, spoiled and corrupt. The parent then seeks a way to correct her mistake. It can't be done.
Yeah, sadly.
(Divorced female teacher having intercourse with male 12- or 13-year old student. Only 60 days in prison.)
Wow, that is disgusting!
They didn't want you to steal their souls.
Oh there's way, but it won't be pretty and it won't be because we "voted."
I have always had a few words I hated:
LOST
BROKE
KEY-HOLED (truck with horse trailer in a tight spot)
I have added a 4th word....
ENTITLED
Misdemeanor????
Per o should be hit with a felony
If he was a public school teacher, he would have been required to send sexually explicit messages to under age children.
That’s what they teach in school these days.
My father and his wife used to babysit for a neighbor’s young daughter when the mother was busy and couldn’t find a babysitter. They did it for free to be good neighbors. After all the accusations that have been going around, now my father won’t be in a room alone with the girl and they are not as willing to babysit. Is he going overboard? Maybe. But as you said, culture is going crazy and who knows what might happen?
Didn't we just endure an entire month called "Gay Pride Month" and we celebrated Drag Queen events all over the country, including at elementary schools and military bases? How about that simply mahvelous "Up Your Alley" festival in San Francisco which ignored the Monkeypox restrictions so it could be celebrated by all?
Are we just schizophrenic, or merely Sodom dressed in leather and chains?
There has lately been so many of these “well respected” people in law enforcement, education and politics being outed as paedophiles by their own actions, which points it all to a huge social and cultural problem that seems to keep getting worse.
What I see across the whole landscape and involving multiple immediate issues is a growing willful disregard and disrespect for childhood innocence and the necessity (for proper maturation) that that innocence be protected. When the social fabric sees it happening in many small ways, without protest, the protection of innocence grows in bigger ways.
